@jameston80 if you think Sony changed their policy after looking at what happened to microsoft then your forgetting that microsoft had enough time to do the same.

microsoft did a reveal event before e3 after which the backlash came. they could have redeemed themselves at e3 but they chose not to. they even chose not to fully explain or demonstrate what they had in mind.

and Sony said that there will be no DRM for first party publishers. they cannot control what third party publishers do hence they could not make that claim for them.

had MS introduced awesome sales regularly and equated the price of a digital game to that of a used copy on amazon then people would not have backlashed this much.

but digital games are always more expensive and have way more sticky prices than their physical counterparts (which is baffling considering digital saves the company a lot of money).

also, MS was trying to introduce all this on top of the always connected Kinect. That is too much too absorb and frankly was an unnecessary imposed restriction to go on top of all the ill-explained digital games madness.

why can't nintendo be a proper 3rd player in the industry by following the traditional console cycle and matching up in hardware? would be much better for their business as they would completely absorb the family oriented market.

would be good for hardcore gamers too as it would make Sony and Microsoft concentrate on hardcore gaming rather than all round "fun" features!

nintendo has 6 months to sell this. or more like 4 months, since once holiday season kicks in every one will be thinking PS 4 or Xbox One. this system is already last gen. and even compared to last gen it doesn't stack up well given its price.

nintendo went for a niche market which does not exist at this price.

@Hvac0120 i dont think they will ever allow the sharing of a single gold account over multiple consoles. that means that a group of friends could get just one membership.

that will definitely not happen which means this is not much news, as it just means your family member can use your console, that's it.

@xtraflossy just like every other piece of software which requires online connectivity needs a gold membership. even free 2 play games which is what the world of tanks developer was upset about.

this is just purely unjustified especially when a competitor is not doing this.

@Spid3r6 to be honest, most of this stuff had been announced at or around E3. apart from small things such as gpu speed there is not much news.

reporters like to keep writing about small things incrementally to keep the interest alive.
