This thread has made me realise what a terrible mistake I made in purchasing my PS3, I was so ill-informed until now! In fact, right this minute I'm going to trade in my rubbish PS3 console and all the great exclusive games and the free online and the top-notch blu-ray player and the out-of-the-box wireless conectivity and the superior reliability, because you've enlightened me now.
Let me know if I missed anything else that I need to bin?
Thanks.
Now I might be wrong, coming at this thread from a unique angle (as I've not played either of them lol!) but I understood Uncharted to be a THIRD-PERSON PLATFORM game, with shooting and combat elements, and Gears Of War to be a THIRD-PERSON SHOOTER... with no platform elements. Dunno like, Uncharted 2 looks like it swaying into the shooter territory more, although to be fair I'd have to play it to see.
Also, I feel that comparing multiplayer PREVIEWS of Uncharted 2 will most certainly not give you a good overview of how the final game will look. The first Uncharted, by all accounts was an absolute gem of a launch game for the PS3 that many people still say has some of the best graphics on the console, despite it's age, so I think the hype for the sequel sounds well-deserved.
Miaow miaow!
Hey guys, I'm looking for a little knowledge and advice please!
My brother has decided to purchase himself a PS3 now, he's had a 360 for a year or so, and though he will be retaining that for Fable 2 and other exclusives, he's sick of paying for Live, wants wireless connectivity out of the box, and is excited for Killzone 2 and MAG. He said he's had a little look at some of the different bundles available, and wants a little advice on which model is the most stable.
He's a little unhappy with the reliability of the 360, at Christmas I witnessed his console die just as we were about to play coop on CoD, and several of his friends who all own 360's have had the same issue (one unfortunate lad had RRoD twice in 12 months!). So he wanted some advice as to which was the best base model to buy. HDD size isn't a problem, he knows he can upgrade that, and BC isn't an issue either. I have a year-and-a-bit old 40Gb model with a 320Gb HDD, and I've never had a problem, I think in all that time it's crashed maybe twice. I had heard in my lurking on these forums that some models are a little less reliable than others.
Thus, my question is is there a marked difference in reliability between the PS3 models available? If so, and based on personal preference and/or experience, which base model would you recommend?
Thanks for any help!

I never have any trouble finding a game :D
Although apparently the online community is shrinking, which is something to consider, there's usually a pretty decent range of rooms to choose from.
OFP is my most anticipated forthcoming game. The original was mindblowing, but very hard! An ultra-realistic, soldier-sim? Move aside Modern Warfare 2! Can't wait to see this one, especially if they package a mission editor like before.
Isn't the multiplayer supposed to have each human player leading an 8-man NPC squad or something too? That sounds like it could be pretty cool.
You mean Conflict: Desert Storm? Yeah I thought it was pretty good, but I'm sure there's one out for the PS3, Conflict: Denied Ops. It's not Desert Storm but it's the Conflict series, haven't played it myself but it might be worth checking out reviews.
If Modern Warfare 2 ends up as another £40 mod then I most certainly won't be buying it. Chances are the SP campaign will be bland and boring as hell, and the MP will have another ten new prestige levels for you to waste your life with.
If it is a brand new engine and game, then I still probably won't buy it. Modern Warfare and World At War were massive disappointments for me, they didn't have nearly the lasting appeal of the original game on PC. Hell, I can still go and play through the original SP campaign and United Offensive expansion without getting bored.
Besides, for my 'Modern Warfare' fix, I'm waiting for Operation Flashpoint 2 :)
Peace and love,

No they don't force install once you d/l it, you have to do it manually once the download is finished. Same as with downloading any PSN demo or game.
Sounds like that's the OPs problem.
Hope that helps!

Did you make sure to install it after you'd downloaded it? If not, it'll appear in the XMB under the Games tab, and you'll need to install it first.
