so, creating your own combos is the best thing ever. right now I have a 4 ac combo, so once you get 4 ac points, I can combo a mob with 2 1 point attacks and 1 2 point attack without waiting for the bar to recharge. You have to execute the 2nd and 3rd combos within the allowed interval time (which is a split second).

making your own combos makes the combat A LOT more fun, fast, and intense.

thats actually one of the main reasons I'm interested in the game, seems like I could spend a long time just creating and tweeking combos for my character. I think in the IGN and GS reviews the only complaint that concerned me is the poor story and voice acting, both of which i already knew before any reviews came out. oh and the difficulty of the game is a turn off, but all other complaints aren't something i really agree with. graphics look great to me, complaints about the battle system are more complaints that it isn't an action RPG, Dungeons should be expansive with many areas to explore looking for loot and such.

My main issue with the story is that they are breaking it up into multiple games I have no issue with having a light hearted cliche RPG story a la Lunar silver star story (though I'm sure it won't be anywhere near as good as Lunar SSS), but when you try and break it up into multiple games it's going to be a problem. even a more complex story won't go well over multiple games, just look at the xenosaga games, they cut it down to 3 games from their ridiculously planned 6~7 games and it was a mess. I'll be getting the game when I have more money and free time.

ign gave it a 5.1 but i will still give it a try

Haha. Looks like I only need to wait for Gametrailers.

gametrailers is guaranteed to score this poorly. I wouldn't be surprised if GT gave a lower score then both GS and IGN. when I get the game I'll be making a healer character. I like playing support characters.

come on, don't let some biased review of a PS3 exclusive sway your own opinion of a game. The review is so obviously biased, firs they say it's TOO EASY, then they say the town building is too DEEP and TOO DIFFICULT and takes too long? sounds like a contradiction to me.

The main negative i had with videos i've watched it perhaps some really sloppy collision detection, but maybe they fixed some of that for the US version. I might get it later, but next month i'm buying God Of War 3 and Final Fantasy 13. Then i'll get Heavy Rain and White Knight next.

pretty sure there is no collision detection for combat, the games going to play similar to FFXII, dragon age, or any MMO (i.e. number and dice based combat mechanics). anyway alternate opinion would be Eurogamer's old import review

Which jrpg have been higher than a 7 from gamespot?

Because Star Ocean IV flopped with a 7.5

Lost odyssey 7.5

Blue Dragon 6.0

Infinite Undiscovery 6.0

As you can see this is not a problem of too much hype or high expectations. It is just that while wrpgs have evolve (Mass Effect) to be something on par with what you can expect from a game of this gen, jrpg's are still stuck in the past and have a hard time to score 8 and 9's from the western media. That's all. But if you like jrpg's you'll find WKC quite fun. We like jrpg's because of the charm and because we know what to expect from them and that's exactly why GS scores them so low.

Other reviewers like Eurogamer rated the game as high as 8. And they are quite harsh with their reviews.

The only jrpg's that can score high in the western media are the ones with the words "fantasy" and "final". I bet that many people will be disappointed with FFXIII but GS will rate it with a 9 or maybe a 10. You can quote me on that.

Gue1
In general I agree with you, gamespot doesn't rate JRPGs very high on consoles, but Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia both managed to get 8.5/10. Ironicly i'm not interested in the least in either of these games, but i'm dieing to play some of those lower scoring JRPGs like lost odessey, Blue Dragon, Infinite Undiscovery, last remnant, and ofcourse WKC.

meh the GS reviewer didn't like it. doesn't mean I won't enjoy it. Eurogamer gave the game an 8/10 (at least in the import review) and they tend to review really hard.

from what I've been hearing a lot of the experienced players from the beta started out playing SVER in the full game release. really i don't care, I like playing the underdog, playing sabo against SVER seems like a good challenge ;). when i get it I'll be on Raven.

gugler990

Happy for you comrade hope your not a noob or a COD rambo see you on the battlefield

lol I actually hate COD, been playing mostly Killzone 2 recently. It will probably be another week or so before I can get the game :(.
