@ninja2481: These things are planned for months & years before they're announced, so it's hard to say who really came up with the idea first, i'd say neither of them :) The Sony discussion is first probably because it's news that pertains to more people. I own an Xbox One (& PC) btw.
@davillain-: 100% agree with you. There's no good reason why MS shouldn't release the MCC on their new (ish) PC store to attract people to what the store might have to offer, just like Origin did with Battlefield 3.
@Prats1993: Short of a handful (a tiny handful) of quality PS exclusives, how does the PS4 fare any better in this little comparison? As Billzihang said, the difference between PC and consoles is more to do with barrier to entry (both technically & financially) than it is about exclusivity. The 'relevance' of Xbox One should be stacked up against the PS4 only, the PC is another beast entirely for the majority of the average console users.
I like where their heads are at, but why not make a big splash like EA did with Battlefield 3 on Origin? They could make a full, £30 release of Forza alongside a Halo game & advertise the store that way.
I personally didn't like that i was forced to Origin to play BF3, but i did it regardless because the game was a must-play for me. These days i'm more than happy to use Origin because its had a chance to prove me wrong & justify itself, this most likely wouldn't have happened without a good reason to keep launching the service.
@repulsive44552: If Microsoft were to attempt to monopolise PC gaming then Linux (or something similar) would take off in a big way because every other distribution platform would get on board to save their own market share. Honestly though, there's nothing to worry about here, at least not to the scale that would spell an end to MS PC gaming. Despite what many people think, MS aren't THAT stupid lol & they should know by now that they can't blackmail everybody with the keys to the operating system. I think it's perfectly fair & reasonable that they would want to sell their own games, and the games of others on their on their own platform/store, but their only focus should be to make their store more competitive with others. If the store turns into something good, i'd be happy to buy from them, assuming of course that i had other options to choose from.
Just to clarify, i'd be completely on board with switching operating systems should MS decide to sh*t the bed & implode (in the gaming space at least) from stupidity :)
@kentray1985: Appreciate your support lol, but i think you might have missed the point :P I'm not looking to defend one group & lay into another here...I just wanted to respond to a comment with a sensible reply.
@pelvist: Yeah i'll also be waiting for the opinions of those i trust, Videogamer.com for one, they're fantastic. Apparently, people (that i follow & listen to the opinions of) who have had a chance to play the game early have been more impressed than they expected to be, which is a good sign...Well, that & the fact that Remedy are making it--I love Max Payne & Alan Wake :) Assuming i buy the game, i'll definitely give it a go on my PC, it's basically a free copy after all. The cross save functionality is a big plus in my book too since i often switch between my PC & X1 depending on time of day & if i'm chatting to to anyone.
To your first point, of course it's not. There's plenty going on with the X1. That being said, whether you choose to seek or avoid news about the console is your prerogative. For example, i personally don't read too far into PS4 related news because i don't own the console (anymore) & have little interest in it, which is fine of course--To each their own. As a result, my current PS4 news highlights are a seeming obsession with PSVR (Oculus interests me even less) , U4 being around the corner, & lots of indie games that i see while browsing Steam on a regular basis. This is of course a completely unfair & uniformed view towards the PS4 scene, which i'll admit & never use as a foundation for discussions, outside of highlighting my ignorance of the subject matter naturally...Ooo but i do miss the 25th anniversary theme with the PS1 boot up music, v classy :)
@pelvist: I hear what you're saying but i must admit that i love playing my 360 games on X1. It's nice to be able to switch between things like Netflix & my games on one system with a simple press of a button. It's important to me to have the ability to play my old games without needing to boot up the old hardware for them....Maybe that comes from being a 'spoiled' PC gamer also :)
In regards to Xbox One news, there's plenty of Quantum Break info & gameplay trickling out these days. I'm looking forward to playing it early next month.
@billzihang: I understand, it's definitely far less intuitive. I don't mind so much with single player games though, especially if i just want to lay in bed & not move for a while :) Seriously though, don't let the controller get in the way of some great games. Once you get invested in a game, the controller won't even matter anymore...Assuming of course it doesn't hurt to hold it or something like that.
