Should be no problem a quality 450 watt would run that all day long. At least thats what Nvidias website says. I have a 550 running a 2.6ghz core 2 with 3 400 gig HDDs, SB audigy, Radeon 1950XT, ATI TV card, 4 gigs of ram never had any issues.

I've actually found Vista to be more stable than XP. Other than some program compatibility problems which are to be expected with a new OS its run fine. One hint though turn off UAC its a security risk sure but no more than youve had the past five years running XP. It helps compatibility and I have more than one program I had to launch as an admin to get them to work properly.

PCI express board or AGP if its AGP a radeon 1950 would be a good upgrade. If its PCI express and socket AM2 go for a bigger processor and a 1950 or 7950. I'm not sure you can get a 7900 in AGP.

FYI the PC is the number one gaming platform out there. Not for the big buy it on DVD games but for the little 10 and 20 dollar download games. Total games sold still goes to the PC. The PC still has the largest library of games available even if the older stuff is hard to find. (but getting a little eisier with broadband and downloads) As long as there is a market for high end PC games publishers will publish them. The good news is most of the really bad games will get weeded out before they hit the PC market because developers will not want to spend the money to port a loser of a game to a small market.

The Games for windows initiatve if you do any development and look at MS tools is going to make it so its a very simple process to convert from a 360 game to a PC game(look at XNA) This may not be a good thing but it may not be bad either, it means there will be more games for windows but it also means there will be more bad games for windows.

[QUOTE="Kiwi_1"]

Something on the order of 98% of laptops are sold the same way. No video card at all. It's why laptops are poor choices for games. The remaining 2 % that do have real video graphics devices included in them are divided about 4 to 1 against being upgradeable on video system, and as already pointed out, the company handles this, not the PC owner.

Out of the 98 % that start life with no video card, fewer than perhaps two or three in a hundred will be upgradeable for video. And only Toshiba can answer which one you bought.

i agree, even if that percentages are invented

100% of laptops have a video card. Otherwise there would be no reason to include a screen. I think what you were trying to say was. Only a very small percentage of laptops have have dedicated video memory.

The Geforce drivers for the 7 series from nvidia.com should work. I just used some 6 series drivers for a go 6200 and all is well.

If you have an OEM version of Windows you will need to get a new code for it.. OEM versions wont support a MB change.

Regarding the "footprints", you just have to make sure you remove all the relevant drivers or software for the old components, then install the new drivers for the new parts. This tells the OS how to make them work...

Depends on if its a generic OEM or a major manufacturers OEM disk generics will reactivate after 90 days on a new Mothreboard.

Just buy a good Zalman heatsink and fan they are quite and work quite well. Not to mention they are way cheaper than water cooling.
