I have very little left to do in Andromeda, I think a 6 is generous. I would have given it a 5. Bugs, glitches, and a average story turn the game into something to do to pass the time, but the experience will be forgettable.
And IGN is far worse with their convoluted, self-aggrandizing rating scale.
I might see it because I loved the anime and some scenes in the trailer look very close to it, but I am not a Scarlett Johansson fan. I really don't find her interesting in anything I have seen her in.
@Torvar72: **** Destiny haters? Hey, don't get mad at us for wanting a game that has depth and is meaningful in some way. Unlike you, I cannot find fun in sitting there hitting the same crappy, rusty, squeaky feeder bar constantly, waiting for a rare chance a bland food pellet to drop that still leaves you hungry.
If they reboot the series instead of making a sequel, then maybe I will consider it. But, if they keep the same mindless, meaningless, boring, repetitive, shallow gameplay they currently have with useless character classes, weapons and armor, and half a story, then it is going to be right there at the bottom of the GOTY list.
Fool me once, shame on you Bungie. Not buying another boring FPS with a useless story, meaningless classes, pointless weapons and armor, and mindless, repetitive, shallow gameplay. They need to reboot the series with this one, not just make a sequel.
@drod0756: I agree with the facial animations, some are pretty sad (like the ones on nexus who always have a frozen surprised look every conversation,) but overall it is not hurting the overall experience (at least mine). This game appears to be so big that I think sacrificing some animation features for how vast the world is is fine with me. So much dialogue to go through, it is easy to forgive the lower quality.
However, the controls are awful at times, online matchmaking is terrible (no quick match with friends and horrible wait times for match making if you have a friend,) they incorporated (I think) the worst things from the trilogy (farming minerals and driving around) and the story with its characters are, from where I am at, currently forgettable. I absolutely loved the trilogy and find this to be moving farther and farther away from that experience. 6 is generous I think, probably in anticipation of fixing some of the big issues.
@off3nc3: Interesting perspective. However, you do realize these values, morals and beliefs of entitlement and egoism millennials have did not come from their asses, correct? This was something that began in the 70s during the push for self-esteem and self-love. So, sure, the kids these days are probably the most selfish, narcissistic people so far, but they had to learn that crap from somewhere... So, I assume you are partially to thank for that, or you are one of us (your post hints at some narcissism).
Second, from my experience, the facial animations do not line up with the dialogue, and sometimes appear similar or the same as in the first Mass Effect. Not all of them are bad, but quite often it is very disruptive to the experience. So, in a generation which is supposed to improve on the last in terms of quality, this is not a step forward. However, some complaints about the quality of the game do exaggerate the issues, just like your post exaggerates yours.
