This was an excellent episode of EFMS. How about doing an episode on Geoff Crammond? Would be nice to hear his opinions on modern F1 racing games and find out what he's doing now that Microprose no longer exist.

After the complete mess that was NFS: Most Wanted this can only be a good thing.

Graphics are not 60% of a game... I've been enjoying some cool indie games that I've downloaded through Steam. Graphically they're not what you'd call great (some even look like 16 bit titles) but what keeps me coming back ins the gameplay.

I'm glad they're aren't rebooting Underground as their take on Most Wanted was awful. The cars handled like the steering was attached to the rear wheels and the police were just annoying and only ever seemed to go after the player, not the AI cars who are also breaking the law.

"day-one DLC comes from gamers not understanding the development process." If he's talking about patches... well.... No it doesn't. It comes from publishers wanting the game out on sale NOW! and not giving the developers time to finish the product, so they have to patch it on release. We didn't have day one patches or any other type of DLC when consoles weren't internet connected (obviously), and the games were fine without them. In fact they had less bugs that we have now as they had to make sure the game was 100% before it was shipped, because it couldn't be fixed after.

Maybe EA aren't the worst company in America, but I seem to remember another games company that released crap games, told lies, expected people to buy anything they made and basically treated their fan base like shit... This company then went on to be partially responsible for the video game crash of 1983

Perhaps developers need to realize that not everyone actually enjoys online gaming. All games should have an offline mode for when people want to use it.

So basically "If the trailer shows the game as it really is, people won't buy the game"... Says a lot about the state of modern gaming, really. Hyping something too much can actually have a bad result and lead to less trust in the developers/producers... Take Spore. It was hyped as (or more accurately implied that it was) a deep simulation of evolution, and when finally released it had even shallower gameplay than a computer sim of noughts and crosses. On top of this we have Sim City, which was dire, and Maxis are now looking like a mere shadow of their former selves. There are too many games that get hyped to hell and then turn out to be utter shite... Need I remind people about Daikatana and Duke Nuklem 2?

I liked Far Cry 3, for the most part, except for the 'telepathic' nature of the AI and their amazing ability to shoot you, through bushes and trees, 500 yards away, even if they're not a sniper. You get spotted by one enemy, even a dog, and instantly the whole of the camp knows where you are. If they'd patch that to make it a little more realistic (I know these guys are meant to be fairly advanced villains, but I don't even think the US military has worked out pre-cognitive telepathy and affinity yet), the game would be much more enjoyable.
