I haven't played since they started really milking it. I enjoyed 2, in fact I loved it (after not even liking 1 that much) - but if I play Black Flag it will be the first since 2. IF. Just watching the annual releases pop out has kept me feeling like I've experienced more of the same over and over again even if I didn't play them.
If they weren't annualized, the AC series games would probably be must-buy games. As it is, I always know I can skip this one and consider it again next year. Or the year after that, or the year after that.
Black Flag does look interesting. But I might wait for the true next-gen AC title. There's just no feeling that I'm missing anything.
He didn't mean that stuff literally. He's calling out parts of the standard formulas for a lot of today's AAA games. A lot of it is stuff I like if it fits properly, but he was joking about shoe-horning stuff like that into a Doom game.
@zackcurl @deth420 It's trouble. The best games come out of a strong vision. The worst come out of focus groups. Consumer feedback has a place, but this makes it seem pretty likely that the vision is GREAT CASH, so let's make a GAME. Instead of the vision being a GREAT GAME, so let's make some CASH.
It's a fine line. But it's looking more and more like MGS has lost its identity.
