@Godokuno_Dan @plaintomato lol. idiots can be entertaining, i'll give you that. you say you have a job like it's proof of your maturity, and then keep on with your adolescent rants. keep it up kid, give us moar.
@Sozialminister Problem is there is also little reason to spend $400+ on console hardware at all. That's the only reason I think MS might have made a smart play framing XBox as a smart high-tech entertainment center. It's still nothing PC couldn't do better, but its looking like the one thing PC doesn't currently offer better. PS4 doesn't have much besides the claim to "most powerful console" in a world where they are going to be pretty much the same thing except for exclusives.
IMO, a $600 console that was actually impressive would have a better chance.
@MuffintopX Maybe, but it fits with what we've been hearing. I'm not surprised most aren't planning to buy just yet. I think that comes down to two things - underwhelming tech, and games.
They didn't really push the envelope with the new hardware, they just brought it up to par with current standards, which will be out of date within a year. Mobile power will catch up to these consoles soon enough. Throw in the cool stuff happening in the PC arena, like Oculus, Hydra, Sixense...along with the power differential and issues like backwards compatibility and DRM obstacles, and the consoles are kind of underwhelming.
Even for people less interested in the hardware limitations, it's hard to say you want a new console based on games when all of the biggest games are coming to current gen instead of investing in next gen. GTA V and Dark Souls 2 alone are enough to keep me from considering next gen until Holiday 2014...and by then, chances are fair that PC and Oculus will have my attention.
"Not sure" means "720p native". So 720p @ 30fps. Welcome to next gen consoles, buckle up for "more than a 10 year journey". Surely ground breaking tech like this will finally mean the death of PC.
Considering how much the Chinese hate the Japanese, the Chinese market opening up to consoles could be a really bad thing for Sony in their battle against MS. Or not. But it does seem like in everything from sports to technology, other country's populations seem more nationalistic than Americans about where they throw their support.
