heres how you do it the same thing happened to me. uninstall everything the orange box had on it (minus what you may have aready had ie. HL2, HL2 Ep.1) then exit steam and put in the first disc again. this time it should start insalling off the disc and then ask you for the second one and then finish like that. no need to download the whole game. the most u will need to let steam download and install are updates to the games
lol well i dont play it nonstop (not saying you guys do either). i just got a crap load of games so ive been occupied with different ones here and there pretty mixed when i play (UTIII, Crysis, Orange Box, and COD4 MP). bsaically i start playing one then i stop take a break load up another etc etc. been mostly playing COD4 and Orange box tho and UTIII here and there.
what EP3 needs is more story. HL2 never really focuses on events from HL1. sure they mention them and have some cutscenes with gman but they merely mention them not continue them. i found HL1s story to be the greatest part of the game then gameplay. HL2 was excellent gameplay but the story dissapointed me. Gman just never really showed up much afterwards and black mesa became tags on the walls and a little intermission here and there. they just need to bring back to story of HL1 or focus on sumthing somewhat relevant like explaining gman and his purpose or existance and places like xen, etc, etc.
as for the portal gun they could construct levels around it but to keep from unfair gameplay you could maybe have a timer on portals or an amount of portals you can actually use until they are either all closed or you find some form of ammunition (not sure what that would be it would have to be up to the developers lol) maybe they can pull the blue gravity gun type of gameplay there ur gravity gun can transform into the portal gun but only in certain parts of the game like the original did in the citadel
hey guys just wondering about COD4 XP points. i am currently playing on my friends CD key (he installed it on my comp and you can run multiplayer without the disc) and i have raised myself to like lvl 17 or 16 (just reached martyrdom). i am going to purchase this game in the near future but i was jw when i uninstall this copy and reinstall my new copy will my XP carry over? or will i have to start over? it would make sense that i could save my pf when i uninstall and it would be recognized again wouldnt it?
id say itll run on the same technology and engine just possibly better optimized since they had room to learn the flaws of cryengine 2 with crysis. in other words, itll run better than crysis. just a guess though
ya cds are quicker for install for the same price and then i have the disc. sure they do scratch but i put them in install and let them sit in the box nothing is gunna happen to them you know.
and ya portal is sooooo sick. im on level 18 right now played up to there in one night haha i think im gunna go play that now haha
i love being able to run everything on the orange box maxed. it looks great and runs beautifully. i only get lag online (i know u can only get lag online). its becuase of my internet. ive always had sort of weak connections (im on wireless because the router is too far from my comp). maybe its because my computer was on for a few days when i ran a server and i had been downloading music earlier. anyone have any tips on improving internet speed? at least on games
