well the fan is always on it starts spinning the second i power up. i mean i guess the only real issue then is the annoying beeping in the beginning. also this cpu fan has a fan control (zalman 9500) and i have that cranked all the time so i dont think i need to set it to 100% since that overrides it im guessing

ok well 1. my mobo can support 1066 its an ASUS P5E X38 mobo and i have an EVGA 8800GT in it currently. how do i change that in the BIOS so my mobo can get it to run the RAM at its full potential?

2. not each core is 36C its only the first two and thats after leaving it on all night and after the intensive windows xp installation process lol AND after playing thru the whole crysis demo. only then did it reach 36C. right now since i just turned my comp on after it being off for a few hours my first core is idling at around 33-34C and the rest are lower.

hey guys just built a new computer and ive been having some "problems" (not really problems since it runs perfectly fine but sumthing i am a little concerned about)

so when i boot up my computer it reaches that screen that says american megatrends on it (red logo) and then my comp beeps like 5 or 6 times (not sure) and then it says "CPU Fan Error! " which is strange since the fan runs perfectly fine and pushes air and what not. should i be worried about this? i mean my computer runs very very smooth but it was a little unsettling to see

also what are good temps for my cpu, gpu, mobo, RAM, etc.

on everest my temps read as such:

-Each core on my intel q6600(stock speed) is running at an average of 30-36C right now. is that anything to be worried about? ive also had the computer on all night downloading the crysis demo and i just got done playing (just to let you know if that makes a difference)

-im not too sure about the other ones since i am on the trial version of everest and it wont let me see so what are considered dangerous temps for the rest of the parts (ram,GPU,mobo, etc.)

also everest is reporting that my RAM is running at a speed of DDR2-800 400mhz when my RAM is 1066mhz stock. is there a way to change this so it can be sped up to what it should be?

sorry for the barage of questions but i just built this comp and im trying to get rid of the loose ends ive encountered so far.

thanks!

so quick question about the HDD... once the info is off onto say an external drive, i will format the disc so it is totally clean since windows at the moment wont recognize it when plugged in (it will be seen in BIOS but not under the my computer page on XP). once i format should it show up so i can put all my old data onto it?

Hey guys i just built my computer with my new parts today and everything runs fine except for two things:

1. the BIOS on my mobo recognizes my second HDD but when in windows XP it only recognizes the partitions on the first drive (which are C: and D:). My friends stepdad who is a computer technician i believe (works with server computers and all computers in general) has my second HDD with all my data on it and is going to back it up onto sumthing for me so i can format that drive and just dump all my data in and i was wondering if this would work? or do i need to do something else in addition?

2. my new mobo isnt recognizing my network adapter card it just sees it as like an unnamed ethernet port (i think). would a simple driver solve this issue so my mobo can recognize it? i would download it from the linksys website for my specific card and burn it to a disc to bring over to my comp and i was wondering does anyone think that would work?

in case anyone wants to know my specs they are:

-ASUS P5E LGA 775 X38 mobo

-EVGA 8800GT 512mb

-Intel Q6600 2.4ghz

-Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2gb (2x1) PC8500 1066mhz

-OCZ 700W PSU

-Zalman 9500 CPU fan

also whenever i boot up a black screen with the logo american megatrends comes up and the computer beeps a few times saying CPU fan error then windows XP just starts like nothing happened and my temps are all running good. does anyone know what is up with that?

thanks

becuz it supports PCIe 2.0 instead of 16x which means its transfer rate of information is twice as fast (from what i read, correct me if im wrong lol) plus im not going SLI or crossfire so it really doesnt matter which board i go with. if i was going SLI i would have gotten P35 but since PCIe 2.0 is newer and my GT supports 2.0 (only 8 series card out that does) it i decided why not and just got it.

nah im a loyal nvidia owner haha and im not going to be SLIing or crossfiring and this board got good reviews and has PCIe 2.0 capability which the 8800GT has as opposed to 16x PCIe. that GT is most likely sort of a gap filler for when the new 9 series releases (hoepfully in Feb. before march 1st when my EVGA 90 day step up expires)

hey guys just got all my parts in but my power supply and i got a question about the power supply which i will list after my specs

so here they are:

-ASUS P5E LGA 775 X38 mobo

-EVGA 8800GT 512MB GPU

-Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz CPU

-Zalman 9500 CPU fan

-2GB(2x1) Crucial Ballistix Tracer RAM PC8500 1066Mhz

-OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU

Now about the PSU... right now im really eager to build this computer but cant since i dont have my PSU in yet but my first custom comp (which im on now) has a 480W Thermaltake butterfly PSU and iw as wondering if that would be ok to use with these parts or should i just wait till tomorrow to get the new OCZ 700W psu? i know it seems impatient but the parts have been sitting in front of me and im just dieing to get this new setup running lol
