Hi all,
Thought i might write up some hints for people.
I've had A LOT of experience buying budget. There are definetly some hints that should be out there.
1. Trade in your old games; though you'll NEVER get the amount you paid for it originally, ask for store credit at places like Revolution CD and Gametraders. You'll always find classic jems and great moderns for a bargian there, so it's worth a look. When Warcraft 3 Battle Chest was about $90, I managed to find it for $60 (and it had 2 copies of Warcraft 3, one of which I traded back!)
2. Buying online and select stores like Dick SMith can be cheaper; this might be stating the obvious, but hey, it's worth it. Some stores like Dick Smith slash prices on budget gams ($10-30) by at least $5. At a Dick Smith at DFO, I picked up KOTOR and Rail road Tycoon 3 for $5 each! ($15 savings). GAME and EB can be cheap, but only at sale times, like 2 for 50, etc.. GOG is a good site for old games, and they come cheap.
3. Take ADVANTAGE. By signing up to the webmail service for EB Aus, you get a 15% off voucher for your next purchase within 7 days! If you're an existing member, refer a friend to get another one! Also, take advantage of competitive pricing. On EB's "seen it cheaper, we'll match it" sticker, it's up to you to find a better price. I went into a JB Hi Fi store next to an EB and found Empire:TW for $79! Combine that with a 15% voucher, and you'll get down to $68, $21 off!
4. And the basic principle; just look around! You'll always find the best buy by looking at different places.
Hope this helps
I'll soon be writing a continous guide on this
