Yeah it's true major retailers don't, but we have second hand stores that do.

What about biggest lose?

Hi all,

Thought i might write up some hints for people.

I've had A LOT of experience buying budget. There are definetly some hints that should be out there.

1. Trade in your old games; though you'll NEVER get the amount you paid for it originally, ask for store credit at places like Revolution CD and Gametraders. You'll always find classic jems and great moderns for a bargian there, so it's worth a look. When Warcraft 3 Battle Chest was about $90, I managed to find it for $60 (and it had 2 copies of Warcraft 3, one of which I traded back!)

2. Buying online and select stores like Dick SMith can be cheaper; this might be stating the obvious, but hey, it's worth it. Some stores like Dick Smith slash prices on budget gams ($10-30) by at least $5. At a Dick Smith at DFO, I picked up KOTOR and Rail road Tycoon 3 for $5 each! ($15 savings). GAME and EB can be cheap, but only at sale times, like 2 for 50, etc.. GOG is a good site for old games, and they come cheap.

3. Take ADVANTAGE. By signing up to the webmail service for EB Aus, you get a 15% off voucher for your next purchase within 7 days! If you're an existing member, refer a friend to get another one! Also, take advantage of competitive pricing. On EB's "seen it cheaper, we'll match it" sticker, it's up to you to find a better price. I went into a JB Hi Fi store next to an EB and found Empire:TW for $79! Combine that with a 15% voucher, and you'll get down to $68, $21 off!

4. And the basic principle; just look around! You'll always find the best buy by looking at different places.

Hope this helps

I'll soon be writing a continous guide on this

Hi,

I really like sims like the guild, Railroad Tycoon 3 and Tropico.

I'm thinking of playing Stronghold. I'm downloading the demo, but I was wondering which one is the best (in general and for new players) and which is the easisest to find in Australia.

I've heard lots of praise for Stronghold Crusades.

Thanks

Hi,

I really like the Tropico Demo and want to buy the 1st one, but it's pretty old.

Any ideas on where I can get it (apart from general sond-hand stores)?

Thanks all for opinions!

After giving another chance, I felt that old rush of Gettysburg, and like it quite a lot now.

I'll try it on high tomorrow

Thanks

Hi,

I don't know. First the game only plays on medium on my 9600GT (and I'm not complaining about it), but it's ugly on medium. It looks like the game was only made to be played on high. Then the combat lets me down (the land that is). I've played the Napoleonic Total War Mod for Rome, and maybe I was just expecting better, but it felt like the Total Wars before.

I'm not definitely sure yet. I've only played land battles, and that too, for 1/2 and hour, but it makes me feel less excited about buying it.

What are your thoughts?

Hey,

I like non-linear RPGs, like Oblivion, Morrowind, Mount and Blade (it's good. Don't trust Gamespot!) and the old stuff like Baldur's Gate and Fallout 1&2

Yesterday I saw KOTOR in Dick SMith for $5. I had prevoiously played it but didn't like it (that was before I got into RPGs), so I left it for Railroad Tycoon 3, which I like.

What are the pluses and minus' of KOTOR?

Thanks
