If you own an Xbox One and you don't intend to cough up for Scorpio, you should still buy an Xbox One S. This is a totally worthwhile upgrade and should be the default base level purchase for new buyers. You couldn't pay me to go back the original Xbox One. The removal of controller connectivity bullshit alone made the upgrade worthwhile. The network seems to work slightly better as well, and HDR really helps out with those darker atmospheric games. 4K HDR enabled Blu Ray and Netflix is just better. One of the biggest things though is Microsoft finally doing away with the power brick after all these years and in a smaller console to boot.

Xbox one S - two thumbs up.

@lumpy: I'm not sure why Quantum Break took a hit. Overhyping maybe? Not that I ever felt it was overhyped. I thought it was a cool new game and I really enjoyed it, just like I felt like Alan Wake was kind of a sleeper hit. I'm hoping Alan Wake 2 pops up at Microsofts E3 conference. If Remedy can make it into a deeper game with more varied gameplay it could make a good addition.

@northArrow:

Microsoft desperately needs a handful of new IP's that don't look like they were indie titles that were blown up to be AAA titles. I'm thankful for indie and Microsofts commitment to them but they need to start pulling out some new AAA exclusive IP's along the line of Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted. Don't get me wrong, I'm also down for them bringing back fully reinvented exclusives like Perfect Dark if they're done right.

Not only does Microsoft need a few new IP's they need at least a couple new exclusive franchises to appear at this conference. It's starting feel like Nintendo up in here with the Master Chief. Not that I don't love me some Mario or Master Chief, but still . . . .

Ah well 7 minutes is still plenty of time to show off a few trailers. More realistically they probably didn't want to have to cut anybody on account of showing off more than just a trailer for a couple of their titles. Either way I'll be happy to see what's up in every's camp since it's felt a bit quiet this year.

I'm not sure if Sony's quiet because they're worried they're not going to be able to follow up last years hype, or if they're trying to beef up before the show. Microsoft is probably quiet because they know they need to hit it out of the park this year and there's no excuse for not making that happen. Nintendo has it pretty easy, they just need to throw down some good classic IP's to keep everyone satisfied and if they can throw in a couple big name 3rd party titles people will freak out.

What ever happens at E3 I can't wait to finally see what's up with the next year in gaming.

So I wrote a posts about all the Augmented Reality stuff I was hoping for and somehow that post vanished after existing for at least an hour that I know of. HTF does that happen?

Anyway list form:

-Wants AR tabletop D&D game

-Wants AR tabletop Star Wars chess game.

-Thinks tabletop AR Pokemon, Bakugan, Cardfight! Vanguard, Yu Gi Oh! type games done in anime arena style would be cool.

-Wants AR support on existing games. IE health bars, skills, Weapon ammo count, Helmet Hud display floating outside of your TV screen to free up premium screen space.

-AR maps floating off to the side of your TV/Monitor is WINNING!!!

Did I mention AR?

@bmoreninja777: Your idea of what represents facts:

-Theyve (Sony) released like 6 quality titles already this year too MS.....none Halo wars 2 failure.

-If you ask me MS is the ones with the egos too think that this whole year drought of content just to have something during the holidays crap that they have been doing for almost 3 years now.

-Yes its bad for a gaming company (Microsoft) who claims to be for the gamer to pnly release decent content 3 months out of the year

-im talking about this gen and this gen theyre (Sony) leap and bounds ahead of MS,

-just like the later years with the 360 MS has failed to deliver good content consistently aside from the same crap Halo, Forza, and Gears..

-i guess thats one of the reasons the ps4 is more preffered gamers are starting to wise up.

-the X1 has been crap for 2 years while the ps4 is kicking out great game after great game.

-Fact is Sony is crushing MS in the category that counts and thats games,

-yes this year is ny far their (Microsoft) wealest and thats whats sad because their last 2 years have been mediocre so many 9 month droughts just for the same game parings is ridiculous

-MS hasnt released 1 console exclusive on the level of bloodborne, Uncharted, or Horizon Zero dawn all gen

-amy real gamer knows the gao in game releases is substantial

-they (Microsoft) still show the inability to maintain a healthy amount of content

Look at all of your amazing facts. Your eloquence and the irrefutable proof you have provided is . . . well I feel I should kneel in your presence. Really, it's truly awe inspiring.

Bloodborne? I mean I'll give you Uncharted, Horizon Zero dawn maybe, but Bloodborne? Pass. The bulk of content for these consoles is the same. Sony has a buttload of Japanese style exclusive games and that's great if you are into them. Exclusive means nothing if you don't want to play them. Me personally I would like to see more Uncharted, Last of Us, Horizon Zero Dawn, Killzone, Resistance, heck I'm even up for some No Mans Sky if they get it to appeal to me more. This all being said I'm excited for a FF7 remake as long as it's better than FFXV.

I prefer my Xbox because the effort that I have seen Microsoft put into improving their console software and the multiplayer experience I get with their exclusives. That being said I prefer my PS4 for it's single player games. It's just that single player is not where I'm spending most of my time.

The difference between us is that I have defended while you have attacked. There has been no point to this thread of conversation that you have branched, other than your desire to further platform hate.

I'm done having this conversation, reply if you will but this is over for me.

@Sozialminister: Had to like this comment even though I feel like I'm playing Xbox defense instead of enjoying meaningful conversations about games on the plethora of platforms I own.

@bmoreninja777: I'm sorry but if that's all you got out of my post then you really are up in your own headspace. Sony has had some good games this gen but the bulk of their exclusives have not held any interest for me, the ones that do I have loved. Apparently you missed how I was using the past as an example of what I saw creeping up now.

The majority of the Sony games people brag about are multi-plat titles. The other games they brag about are their exclusives, the bulk of which are the exact same type of series that your bitching about Microsoft pushing. The reality is that Sony does not have infinitely better hardware, it does not have games that are far better than the Xbox, and until this year it was not ahead on what I would call quality exclusives. Noses are up in the air this year since Sony has pulled ahead on quality exclusives while the Xbone has had it's weakest period since launch.

I'm sorry to have to shine the light on your fanboyism. The reality is that at no point even from my original post have I bashed Sony and yet you can't help but fight for them anyway. My OP only implies that I am happy with them but they are starting to show the subtle signs of a previous cockiness that I would prefer to keep at bay, yet you get all tweaked up if someone implies there is even a hint of blemish on their ivory tower. Sony's attitude is clearly a reflection of it's diehard fans.

PS. Sorry for my previous 209 word post. Your 171 word single paragraph reply was clearly far superior.

@bmoreninja777: Um yes Sony's ego. If you are unfamiliar with Sony of the past or are just a diehard fanboy then maybe you can't see it. I switched which machine was my main console back in the day partially because Sony refused to budge for it's loyal customers. It was all about what Sony wanted and we would just have to suck it up. I love all of my PS consoles but that doesn't mean I'm blind to their poor behavior. Much like I'm not blind to the Microsoft team being a bunch of ass hats when they showed off the Xbox One. I literally swore at the screen for like 2 hours.

I'm not sure what you're point is about Microsoft releasing titles at the most heavily released time of year. You do realize that Microsoft only affects a handful of title releases don't you?

You act like all the Sony exclusives have been hand crafted by Sony. The majority of "Sony exclusives" are Japan-centric titles. Something that has never seen much pull on a western console. I'm thinking Microsoft wouldn't want the majority of them even if they had the opportunity. That leaves Nintendo as the only real competition for those titles and Nintendo doesn't give a fuuuu . . .
