@Zombie8814: Fortunately for you, you won't have to worry about that for long.

@uchihasilver: The merits for downloading a game vs disk cannot be applied to streaming video vs 4k Blu Ray. Once you have downloaded a game it is the exact same game. When you stream video you are currently subject to connection quality and streaming audio/video compression quality. Not to mention that a lot of people love the extra's found only on disk, and the crowd of people that enjoy showcasing their favorite movies in their home. You can bet that many of those make up the early adopters of the 4k format.

@Xristophoros: Though it has the potential to go very wrong, I am all for changing the way we view console life cycles. I'm glad to see Sony and Microsoft are both on board. As an owner of both consoles I am a little disappointed that Sony didn't take a moment to offer a bit more on their new base model outside of it's traditionally tiny refresh size. The addition of HDR across the Board gives the mild impression that they were trying to buy back our love after realizing Microsoft went the extra step. Match that with the lack of HDR support on all 1080p Tv's and you'll see why it seems odd not to include 4k like Microsoft did.

Here's to hoping with all the HDR hype that we start to see some 1080p HDR Tv's next year. Worst case scenario, we'll buy our new HDR compatible 4K Tv's for a hundred or so bucks more than the 1080p models, since the 4K prices will be falling like rain into the new year.

Kind of a weak answer. I think Microsoft covered their bases and Sony decided nobody would care, and hey, if it could save them a couple bucks to skip it, why not.

For anyone getting 4K Tv's for something other than hype, here's the real low down:

4K vs Blu Ray vs 4k Blue Ray

Article should be titled: Xbox One S Seeing "Unprecedented Demand." The Lobby clueless as to why.

And went more like:

Gamespot went back and spoke to Peter Brown, Mike Mahardy, Jimmy Thang who posed the question "Should You Buy an Xbox One S?" on The Lobby the other day, and asked them why everyone seems to be clambering for this new Xbox against their advice. Jimmy Thang, who wrote a technical review for the Xbox One S just prior to The Lobby in question, had this to say, "Other than the high contrast, bright color, HDR thing, and it's 4K video stuff, I just don't know. I guess because It's small, white and sexy. Hey, that's what I look for in women. Who needs to know more than that. Am I right?" After high fiving with Jimmy Thang and Peter Brown, Mike Mahardy stated, "Now that I've been around the new Xbox One S for a while, I can't help but love how HUGE my hand looks next to this thing. " . . . .

Buzzinga! ;)

This was the most useless lobby. Honestly it was so bad that it needs redoing. First off, how come the reviewer barely seems to understand the product he just wrote about and why the machine is relevant? I was just in awe of how little info on the console was given, and the little info that was given, was not presented in an informative way.

With the internet at the tip of your fingers how come no one seems to understand why a 2TB HDD doesn't have 2TB of space let alone why a console with a complete OS doesn't have full space.

-The actual size of 2TB hard drive is 2,000,000,000,000 bytes which actually amounts to 1,819 Gbyte.

-In comparison a 500GB drive would be 465.66.

If you are a tech reviewer and a PC gamer you should already know this stuff. Now 200GB for the OS seems a bit bloated but as it sounds like the Xbox spokesman tried to explain, but was likely utterly lost on this reviewer, that there was a tonne of promo crap preinstalled to try to get the ball rolling. Whether this would have been dumped in the 500GB system we do not know. I would say that you can probably expect 50GB for the OS after you have cleaned house, which would drop the 500GB to just over 400GB which is more in line with my current 500GB Xbone. For comparison this is also inline with my PS4, PS3, 360, and numerous PC's over the years. Does it suck? Ya. Is it new or surprising? Not if you you were paying attention.

It was pretty clear from the get go that no-one on this panel gave a damn about this console refresh, and maybe if they did they might have researched it's benefits and what it's market is. I mean this was titled "Should You Buy an Xbox One S?"

In short here's your market:

New users. New or existing users that specifically want an Xbox with a notably smaller footprint. Gamers that own 4K ready equipment and want a 4K capable Blu-ray player ($150+) and/or system that can play 4k media (also but not exclusively people that understand and want to enjoy the new HDR feature). Gamers that own the existing 500GB system that want to upgrade to a larger HDD but also like the the complete feature list that the Xbox one S is offering. Not to mention the included new Bluetooth controller that has been mildly modified, comes with includes the 3.5mm headphone jack (not on original Xbone) and improved controller range/connectivity.

There are other more minor reasons to upgrade and I would classify the potential 7% gain as one of them. If anyone want to suck the marrow from the Xbone, I recommend you do a simple look online. Sadly this Lobby had a nice piece of meat on the table, but unfortunately there wasn't a chef in the room.

As a side note, the upcoming Scorpion barely registers as an argument for not buying an Xbox one S. Ask a PC gamer if he thinks he should wait a year for the next big component, I mean the next, next big component, or maybe the next, next, next big component.

Gamespot, we expect better.
