So, I've been seeing a lot of talk about this new Netflix/Xbox live deal and how it's some amazing thing that seperates the Xbox 360 from the Ps3. I can't seem to understand why. I usually see people here on SW flaming others who mention the fact that Ps3 plays Blu-ray movies, who all think that these should not matter in the gaming format war. But then, after e3 and this announcement, the xbox owners jump all over this netflix deal. That seems silly, but from what I've seen (only been browsing SW for a month or so), this sort of hypocrisy runs rampant on these boards.
Aditionally, do the xbox360 people really know how crappy the netflix instant selection is? Unless there is some major revamp in store for the instant movies on netflix in the near future, theres not much to be happy about. I've had netflix since it launched, and when the instant feature arrived, I was excited. Until I saw the list of movies. All that's on there is good TV shows (THe office, Heroes, standup) and crappy independent movies with a very small amount of gems thrown in (looking at the top 50: Ghost BUsters, Mean Girls, Pan's Lab, MIB). It doesn't seem to have any big titles after 2006. So what exactly is everyone so excited about? And I find it hard to believe that Netflix is going to have a better collectionJUST for xbox360 users.
Tl;Dr version: What does SW think of the seperation between movies and games on consoles, and why are the xbox 360 people so excited about their up-and-coming, sup-par (IMO) netflix service?
And yeah, I have a ps3 currently, but I will pick up a 360 later in the year after I see how these RPGs turn out. So I'm not trying to be fanboyish, just want to have a bit of discussion on this subject.
