Have you seen the latest and first ever trailer of the highly anticipated Ghostbusters video game? I sure did and boy, it was freakin' awesome! Yeah, sure the trailer was like 17 seconds but who cares? It's coming!! And who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!!!
I'm really excited here!! I'm not sure how else to express my feelings when I saw both the trailer and the sweet sweet screenshots. I was also surprised that ZootFly, the developers who first approached the project, is no longer involved with the game. It seems that they still couldn't get the rights to make the game from Sony Entertainment after months of debate, and has finally stepped down. Now Sierra Entertainment is taking over.

Ghostbusters The Game Interview
The interview is in Dutch I think, but however you can watch the neat game cutscenes provided. I'm extremely high right now!! I've been waiting for a Ghostbusters 3 my whole life and I can't wait to get my hands on the finished product. I don't care what format they're putting it on now, can either be a movie or a video game (But not books please :p) , but as long as it exist. I think I first heard about the rumor about GB3 somewhere around the late 90's and I was thrilled like hell, but it was disappointing to see it delaying for so so long till you'd feel that it's never gonna come. From what I discovered, the reasons for the delay were two things:
- The Script: Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis, the co-creators of Ghostbusters and the ones who played Ray Stanz and Egon Spengler, had been struggling for a sequel and an ideal storyline for a very long time. They did agree on a plot at one point, something about the Ghostbusters battling in Hell, but it never went further than that. They even were considering to have Ben Stiller and the late Chris Farley to act in the movie. Talk about freaky. Not that I dislike them, but they definitely do not fit the role by a long shot. No doubt about it!
- The Murray: If you think that the script was the only problem that the crew had, think again. Bill Murray, who played as Peter Venkman in two of the GB movies, refused to participate in the next sequel. Apparently he dislikes to do sequels, just like what happen in the Charlie's Angels sequel. Ernie Hudson aka Winston Zeddmore was eager to reprise his role so after years of argument, Bill Murray shall once again make an appearance in the next Ghostbusters sequel.
Here's hoping that Ghostbusters 3 game will not be a disappointment to not just me, but to all the other Ghostbusters FAN-atics out there. The only thing I'm asking for is to tone down all the drama and emphasize more on the action. Allow us to be able to use the Proton Packs, the PKE Meter, the Ecto-1, the Slime Blower and my all-time favorite weaponry; the Ghost Trap. There are a lot of GB games, some were based on the first two movies and some from the cartoon shows. Some are worth mentioning, but none were that great. One particular game that I really love was Ghostbusters II for the Game Boy. That one really stood out and showed us what a real Ghostbusters should be like. It involves one character zapping ghosts by pressing the A button and using another character to trap the ghosts with the B button. I had a blast playing it when I was young (Blast geddit?), but I was incredibly crushed when I lost it in school one day. I was devastated cos it was like my favorite game about my favorite movie. So my advice kids, don't bring video games to school.
Anyway, Luigi's Mansion and Ghosthunter got their inspiration from Ghostbusters I'm sure. Perhaps Sierra should learn from these hit titles and make this next game as fun as those two. I also hope they will elaborate more about the Containment Unit, which (For those of you un-nerdy to notice) is what stores all the captured ghosts like how does that contraption works and how is it possible that they can squeeze that many ghosts in a machine? And is it true the Ghostbusters created their very own demonic universe in the Containment Unit which allows unlimited capacity of the ghouls, based on what I saw from the cartoon shows like The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters? The truth is out there. They left out the C-Unit in Ghostbusters II, so let us hope it shall not be missed in this next sequel cos I've always been interested in the gadgets of the Ghostbusters.
