Don't Cross The Streams!!!

Have you seen the latest and first ever trailer of the highly anticipated Ghostbusters video game? I sure did and boy, it was freakin' awesome! Yeah, sure the trailer was like 17 seconds but who cares? It's coming!! And who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS!!!

I'm really excited here!! I'm not sure how else to express my feelings when I saw both the trailer and the sweet sweet screenshots. I was also surprised that ZootFly, the developers who first approached the project, is no longer involved with the game. It seems that they still couldn't get the rights to make the game from Sony Entertainment after months of debate, and has finally stepped down. Now Sierra Entertainment is taking over.

Be sure to watch these two videos from YouTube.com:

Ghostbusters The Game Interview

The interview is in Dutch I think, but however you can watch the neat game cutscenes provided. I'm extremely high right now!! I've been waiting for a Ghostbusters 3 my whole life and I can't wait to get my hands on the finished product. I don't care what format they're putting it on now, can either be a movie or a video game (But not books please :p) , but as long as it exist. I think I first heard about the rumor about GB3 somewhere around the late 90's and I was thrilled like hell, but it was disappointing to see it delaying for so so long till you'd feel that it's never gonna come. From what I discovered, the reasons for the delay were two things:

  • The Script: Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis, the co-creators of Ghostbusters and the ones who played Ray Stanz and Egon Spengler, had been struggling for a sequel and an ideal storyline for a very long time. They did agree on a plot at one point, something about the Ghostbusters battling in Hell, but it never went further than that. They even were considering to have Ben Stiller and the late Chris Farley to act in the movie. Talk about freaky. Not that I dislike them, but they definitely do not fit the role by a long shot. No doubt about it!
  • The Murray: If you think that the script was the only problem that the crew had, think again. Bill Murray, who played as Peter Venkman in two of the GB movies, refused to participate in the next sequel. Apparently he dislikes to do sequels, just like what happen in the Charlie's Angels sequel. Ernie Hudson aka Winston Zeddmore was eager to reprise his role so after years of argument, Bill Murray shall once again make an appearance in the next Ghostbusters sequel.

Here's hoping that Ghostbusters 3 game will not be a disappointment to not just me, but to all the other Ghostbusters FAN-atics out there. The only thing I'm asking for is to tone down all the drama and emphasize more on the action. Allow us to be able to use the Proton Packs, the PKE Meter, the Ecto-1, the Slime Blower and my all-time favorite weaponry; the Ghost Trap. There are a lot of GB games, some were based on the first two movies and some from the cartoon shows. Some are worth mentioning, but none were that great. One particular game that I really love was Ghostbusters II for the Game Boy. That one really stood out and showed us what a real Ghostbusters should be like. It involves one character zapping ghosts by pressing the A button and using another character to trap the ghosts with the B button. I had a blast playing it when I was young (Blast geddit?), but I was incredibly crushed when I lost it in school one day. I was devastated cos it was like my favorite game about my favorite movie. So my advice kids, don't bring video games to school.

Anyway, Luigi's Mansion and Ghosthunter got their inspiration from Ghostbusters I'm sure. Perhaps Sierra should learn from these hit titles and make this next game as fun as those two. I also hope they will elaborate more about the Containment Unit, which (For those of you un-nerdy to notice) is what stores all the captured ghosts like how does that contraption works and how is it possible that they can squeeze that many ghosts in a machine? And is it true the Ghostbusters created their very own demonic universe in the Containment Unit which allows unlimited capacity of the ghouls, based on what I saw from the cartoon shows like The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters? The truth is out there. They left out the C-Unit in Ghostbusters II, so let us hope it shall not be missed in this next sequel cos I've always been interested in the gadgets of the Ghostbusters.

Kane and Lynch...6.0 Only?!!

How come Kane & Lynch: Dead Men received 6.0 rating from Gamespot? I had high expectation of this game and I am truly shocked to see it receive poor rating. Does the game really suck?

To Rapture I Will Go

I recently purchased Bioshock for the XBOX360 last night. Can't wait to play it tonight. I've been watching the trailers, gameplay cutscenes, video review and now I must find out if this game truly is the game of the year. Little Sisters. Big Daddies. Here I come!

Speak Up...Review It

I've played so many games over these past few years and now I have the urge to review them which I think needs to be said. Look up for new game reviews from me but for now, feel free to read my other reviews and rate it whether you agree or disagree with it. Just be honest. I don't mind. Do excuse the length of each reviews though. I got carried away with all of them :p.

I was There! But It's Not Here!

I watched the Player's Ball live but how come I didn't get an emblem? Noooo! This can't be happening!!! I did had problems with the Internet connection while watching it so maybe that was the cause of the problem. Dang it!!!

I've Finally Finished Resident Evil 4

When I first bought Resident Evil 4for the PS2 two years ago, I was thrilled because at the time I didn't have a Gamecube to play RE4 (Gamecube version) but after I bought the console, the game was sold out and I had a hard time finding it ever since. Luckily, Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil, was kind enough to produce this best survival horror game once more for the PS2 to allow non-Gamecube-owned players to have a taste of the bittersweet terror (Although I think it wasa cheap move).

Anyway, Resident Evil 4 was a blast to play and watch. It was great that Capcom finally refurbished and improved it's gameplay compared to its predecessor by changing the camera angles and added better action moves. So the question is; why did it take me a long time to finish the game when I first played it in 2005? The truth is, I got bored with it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the new and improved gameplay. Shooting bad guys at specific body parts and watching them splatter blood all over the place was a whole lot of fun, but after like 60% near completion, I grew tired of it and eventually stopped playing the game because it was too repetitive. I put my Resident Evil 4 aside and played other games on the same console and weeks later, I'd forgotten about it completely.

Two years later, after I finished my exams, I was looking through my games to see which ones haven't I completed it yet. That was when I stumbled upon Resident Evil 4 again, and I began to remember why haven't I finished the game before. I checked my Memory Card to see where exactly did I stopped the last time I played it. I was at the tower, just before the Salazar boss fight. Instead of resuming the game at that point, I decided to start all over again, just to get that intense feeling of "stepping into the darkness for the first time" kinda of feeling.

I got a bit bored with the gameplay again actually, but I forced myself tofinish the game once and for all. And at last, exactly three hours ago before writting this entry down, I've finally completed Resident Evil 4, and it took me precisely 12:43'58", with Hit Ratio of 70%, 893 number of Enemies Killed and I got killed 38 times. Hoo-ray!! It actually felt good from this accomplishment and I can't wait to play Seperate Ways, where you get to play as Ada Wong and play her based on her perspective. Overall it was a wonderful experience, but the only fallback after all that is missing one lousy stinkin' video in the movie browser. Crap!

Rush Hour- TGS Style!

Finally got a new emblem. The TGS 2007 emblem! Now I have three rows worth of emblems in my profile. Woohoo! I actually watched the TGS not because I wanted to see the latest news in Japan but just to get a new emblem. Haha! Yeah, that's right. I wasn't really bothered with TGS. Sue me! :P

Honestly, I almost lost the emblem because of time factor. When it was first broadcasted live, I had tons of work to do and I slept throughout the day,and I forgotten about TGS completely. The moment I realized it, I quickly logged in and watched the show, and I was lucky to catch it before time runs out. 15 minutes lucky!

Phew!

Suicidal Obstacle

My exam is just around the corner, which means I have to be on the worst diet a mortal must embrace with (Besides food): video games! Under the orders of my superiors at home, I was instructed not to lay my hands on any of the consoles until I've completed the exams in two weeks time. So yeah, I'm kinda stuck in my room right now getting prepared for the papers.

Can't finish Ninja Gaiden along with the other games in my Now Playing List at the moment. Apure torture  indeed, but it'll be worth it. Can't afford to screw up my exams this year. If all goes well, I'll be furthering my studies abroad and hopefully I can pursue my dream job into the creative line of work, perhaps in the gaming industry.

Wish me luck!

Gameplay+ Graphics+ Sound+ Value= 0. TILT!

What happened to Gamespot's Rating System? It seems that they cut down the scroll meters (Gameplay, graphics, sound, value & tilt) and simplified it. I certainly do not agree with this. 9.5 and 9.7 ratings do make a difference you know?

I believe Gamespot is following their other sibling's website ratings like TV.com, Filmspot.com, MP3.com etc., and that ain't cool. The old Gamespot rating system has taught me a lot about the true value of video games, and you can use its basic structure to relate with other things such as movies, TV shows, fictional characters, toys and so forth. For example, in films you can have things like: Plot, Sound, Performance, Value & Tilt. Something like that.

So yeah, I certainly disagree to the Gamespot's awful decision and hope it will be amended as soon as possible. And as Phoenix Wright would say, "OBJECTION!!!"

Phoenix...Right?

So who's with me?
