I think people may use them too excessively, but there are also people who exaggerate their significance.
Short story
I was in my kitchen cooking (I have a three story house, and everyone was upstairs except for me, the kitchen is on the second floor). There seemed to be an unnecessary amount of lights on in the house, so I thought out loud to myself "can someone turn off the lights?" Right after I said that, the lights in my living room went off! I heard the actual flick of the light switch, and when I went to see if anyone was in the living room hiding, trying to prank me, all I saw was a shadowy figure float across the room in a reflection off a china glass pantry thing (I don't know whats its called). After being freaked out and running upstairs like a kid, I came back down in the living room and the light switch was down, so the bulbs didnt die out, they turned back on when I flicked the light switch back up.
What could this mean, prove, etc.? If ghost exists, maybe it could be evidence of another realm or dimension of some sort, Some people I've told said it could be indirect evidence of God's existence. Lastly, I know I sound crazy, but trust me, I clearly wasn't dreaming, and no, I am not making this up. What are your thoughts on this? In the past, I thought I had maybe experienced a ghost when wierd things happened, but could all be explained. This time, thats not the case.
I would like to think of art as visual arts and 3d art (sculpting, computer generated art), etc. All of this "music is art" is what's making being called an artist played out. Music is music, art is art.
[QUOTE="ThisIsTwoFace"][QUOTE="kraychik"] How hard is it to "freestyle" when you've spent hundreds of hours writing and reciting lyrics? Kanye deals with rhyming words all the time given his career and will obviously be able to "freestyle" (i.e. recycle rhymes he's previously written) better than someone who has never spent a minute doing any of that. That doesn't mean that being a good rapper requires a lot of talent. kraychik
Its still hard to freestyle when its off the top of your head and on a type of beat that you aren't familiar with.
No, it isn't. Like I said, professional rappers already have a huge index of rhymes in their heads considering how much time they've spend with it. All they do is recycle previously used rhymes. So do you hate all rappers and think they're talentless and skill-less, or do you recognize them as having any skill, but not as much as other musicians?[QUOTE="JML897"]Not comparable...especially since there are really good versions of both and really crappy versions of both. Legendaryscmt
Pretty much my thoughts as well.
I compare them because they're the two most popular forms of music in our culture.
