[QUOTE="rahzel54"]very poor port. it was either due to laziness or time. by no means is it due to hardware limitations.ryan_mirow
suuuuuuuuure...

anyone with any knowledge of the hardware of both systems know that both are pretty equal and that no games up to this point are even close to hitting the ceiling of either console (especially the ps3). you are obviously a 360 fanboy with no knowledge of the hardware (probably in either system).

[QUOTE="lennygundam14"]I guess we should start boycotting Ported games so that they know were sick and tired of this same crap....Cellien
Ya sure.. boycott everyone except for Sony for making a machine that is harder to develop for. Its not Ubisofts fault for that just likes its not Capcoms fault the userbase of PS3 is too small to release exclusive games onto yet everyone wants to boycott them too. Who's next? Realize the boycott should be against Sony, not everyone else...

its also not fair to blame sony entirely. there are some ports that turned out slightly better, and many ports that turned out at least very close to the 360 version. so why is this port not even close? and again, its not due to hardware limitations.

[QUOTE="rahzel54"]blu-ray movies are only encoded at 1080p, but support 1080i. they will not downscale to 720p. therefore, if you disable 1080i in your ps3 settings, it will play in 480p, which is why it played in 4:3 with black bars. in HD resolutions (720p+) you cannot use 4:3 mode, only 16:9.squirrelgrrrl84
blu-ray movies support 720p, as well as 480i/p, and 1080i/p. as far as i know, it's the ps3 that can't play blu-ray movies in 720p (due to the lack of a functioning scaler) though i'm not entirely sure about that, since i play my ps3 at 1080p without a problem. the rest of your message is generally incorrect also.

NOTHING in my message is incorrect. but the majority of your message is incorrect. i guess you could say that i was incorrect in that some standalone players will downscale to 720p (which i knew, but were talking about the PS3 here), but that does not mean blu-ray movies support 720p. you need a scaler to do so. thats like saying DVD movies support 1080i/720p because there are upconverting DVD players that can do it.

Right. The PS3 will not downscale Blu-Ray movies to 720p. But there are standalone players that will.

well that isn't right then. if it supports it, it would play it. its not like the disc itself is scaling down to 720p. you need a standalone player to scale it for you. like i said, blu-ray movies are only encoded to 1080, so if you disable 720p in your PS3, it will play at 480p. the only mistake i made, was that it supports 480 as well.

i haven't tried 3gp, but ps3 video 9 was pretty quick. i have a dual core processor and you can enable 2 threads in the profile settings. the quality in 2 pass mode is also quite good. anyway, try pressing triangle on the disc and select "display all" if you haven't already. ps3 video 9 makes compliant videos, as thats its main purpose, so it should show up.

In the end, you'd be accepting a downgrade to an inferior system to get more games sooner rather than just waiting a few months for the PS3 rush...not a great decision if you ask me. But, it's your PS3, do what you want with it. Just don't come crawling back here in 4-6 months time crying you want it back. SkyCastleDan
agreed.
