Kodai, hes not asking about Blu Ray players now is he? Hes asking about HD DVD. Im tired of your HD DVD hating when if i recall you don't even own the format. BlacKJaCK2290
He was asking if it was worth it. But pointing out the likely success of Bluray it could possibly render an HD-DVD purchase in the near future as something worthless. And yes I own a Toshiba HD-DVD player, and would have like to have seen it be the chosen format. Unfortunately that's not going to happen. That's the price you pay for being an early adopter. Also, try not to attach yourself to the hunks of plastic and metal on an emotional level.

[QUOTE="Runningflame570"]Nope, its entirely movie dependent. VC-1, HD Movie Cameras, differing quality of compression within codecs, these and more can all effect PQ. Blackhawk Down for instance I believe is in MPEG2, but is supposed to be one of the best looking and sounding videos around on either format.

Crank is also one of the best looking films on either HD-DVD or Bluray and is also in MPEG2.

Neither,  NCAA Football will be better than both.  The college game is just a little more special.

Sony will release a $500 standalone Bluray player this year.  You'd probably be better served than going with HD-DVD.  The writing is on the wall.

Be wary of the Mitsubishi's.  Many of them don't accept 1080p signals.  They just de-interlace 1080i signals to the TV's native 1080p resolution.  And since many PS3 games only output in either 720p or 1080p that could pose some problems.

Both have reached what I call "Madden Status".  That is, where a game will always sell exceptional well with every release regardless of how good the game is.

If sales determine what's the best then a Ford Mustang is better than a Ferreri and NSync is better than Jimmy Hendrix.
