My wife has a Wii and she seems to like it. It's fun for parties and stuff but nothing I really consider a real gaming system like the 360 or the PS3. Some gaming, especially many shooters and such, can be considered an adult hobby. Wii doesn't serve that purpose. It's like taking those plastic kid's golf clubs to the US Open.
You seem quite naive about the subject.
Narcissistic would probably be a more apt description.

[QUOTE="geist117"][QUOTE="ramey70"]I'd love to get a Wii but I'm not 13 anymore.flazzleHappy 14th b-day! Did you get any new games? No! Im sure he got 'mature challenge experiences' or some stuffed shirt alternative name. I wonder what lemmings will think of to replace the word 'games'. Actually, I turned 30 two days ago. At this age gaming is considered more of a hobby. Something to do when you don't have to mow the yard, bring work home, or listen to my wife rant and rave about things I dont' care about. I want the best experience possible. That means a 56" 1080p set, decent home theater setup, etc. If I want to make the best use of those things then a Wii simply doesn't do it justice. It's expensive but at this stage in my life I really don't care anymore.

Nintendo's doing a pretty great job, they're in second place in the U.S. Open using kid's golf clubs. Nintendo is doing a fantastic job. They are one of the best run companies in the world and they should be commended for it. However, that doesn't mean I'm not wrong. Britney Spears sold more albums than Jimmie Hendrix, but one is for kids and the other isn't. Unless you have really cool kids.

However, the problem is that many TV's won't accept a 1080p signal via the VGA port. In those cases you are limited to a maximum of 1080i.
Addressing VC-1 and Bluray. There are several VC-1 movies available now on Bluray. It totally depends on the studio as to what they encode the movie in. Even so, the method of encoded does not determine picture quality. Crank on Bluray is considered on of the best looking HD movies available, on Bluray or HD-DVD, and it's encoded in MPEG-2. Kingdom of Heaven is superb and is in AVC. The orginal source content and available bitrate is the crucial as well.
Regarding Superman Returns, it doesn't matter. The picture quality isn't that great on either HD-DVD or Bluray. It's better than DVD by a longshot but not as great as it should be.
