The games are coming soon and without blu ray well you wouldn't have as good of games.

I tell you what if there are not any good games out for ps3 by the end of the fall post this again.

odin2019

Bluray will have very little effect in terms of the quality of games.  The 360 doesn't seem to suffer from not having it so far.

wow...personal insults..

i love first year grad students.....

the point is Ken was moved out; Fired, ousted, removed, etc... however you want to call it.

the only thing funnier is you guys thinking an "Honorary" title holds any realworld application.

ken has stated he is not working with/for sony anymore. Bad blood kiddies...

spin it anyway you want, but when the very unit that founded a career ends a career you should know that spells trouble...;)

not suprised this has evaded your notice tho...;)

btw; many celebraties hold Honorary degrees. I'll bet you think the degrees are marketable..

really tho yuou have zero basis to talk about biz with your idea the ps3 is doing "just fine"..

leaving on a "sour note" and "defeated" is not indicative of someone leaving of their own choosing... i should be amazed at how little you know about decisioning at the executive levels, but i'm not... and you know why...;)

I'm 30 years old. I received a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M Univesity in 1999 and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001. I held a position as a yield analyst for AMR Corp (American Airlines) for 4 years. I'm currently a risk assement officer for a national mortgage firm. A "first year grad student" I am not. Judging from some of your prior posts you've either majored in Theater Arts or Agriculture Development.

and yet you failed to address any of the facts.

with all that supposed education you STILL think the ps3 is doing "fine"...?

i'd go back to school and ask for a refund...;)

so tell me again how Kuturagi is STILL working with sony...

Can you show me where I've ever claimed the PS3 is doing fine?

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"]I stopped counting at 7/2 and the PC had about 47 or so.AdrianWerner

There aren't 4 PC exclusive games coming out between now and 7/2 that you will be buying........

well he's more likely to buy 4 PC exclusives than a lemming buying 4 360 exclusives :)

Good thing i own a Wii, PS3, and 360 huh...

Console Gaming > PC Gaming

So far this year PCgaming > all next-gen consoles COMBINED :D

No NCAA Football on the PC so that statement is patently false.  The only people who don't like NCAA Football are chicks, emo guys, and guys who drive honda civics with giant spoilers and loud lawnmower mufflers (they probably also watch anime).

PS3 sales on ebay were below retail at launch. No killer apps in 6 months. No exclusive heavy hitters until 2008, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear. Discontinued the cheaper 20gig model. Japan sales are embarassing. US sales are embarassing. The Wii sells more in one week in Japan then the PS3 does for a month in the US. Outsold by the GBA two months in a row. Blu-ray hasnt proven anything for games and hasnt 'taken off' yet as the next winning format. Sony just lost 2 billion dollars in the games department. I would say the PS3 gets a F easily.Carmilla31

You don't have to make things up.  The PS3 never sold below retail at launch.  I should know, I sold 2 of them for $1,500 each.

Sony claims "lack of interest" on the part of consumers (hardly, it was the only PS3 consistently sold out) - the real reason is that the PS3 was (and still is) losing them so much money that they couldn't afford to continue the existance of the $500 version.

Stores weren't ordering it due to lack of interest. That's what it appeared to be "sold out". At launch they weren't going for much more than the retail price on ebay while the $600 version was fetching almost $1,600.

Again, bogus. Stores weren't getting more in because Sony wouldn't sell 20gb versions to suppliers - they had stopped manufacturing them, they did not exist, so stores were unable to get them. The "20gb PS3 wasn't in demand" is an absolutely *bogus* statement - every 20gb PS3 in stores sold out, every 60gb unit did not - even if fewer 20gb units were selling than 60gb, it still would make sense for a store to have them in stock, in the same way stores stock core 360s even though the premium / elite sell better.

As far as ebay pricing - the kind of person willing to spend $1600 on a system is not a price conscious consumer, they obviously want "the best" - this isn't reflective of the real world retail situation.

Sony lost two billion last year on the PS3 - I find it easier to believe that they don't want to subsidize the Blu-Ray player market by having a $500 model easier to buy than consumers not wanting to save $100 - the core 360 sells, and it's far more gimped that the 20gb PS3.

The core isn't gone from stores either - so why is the 20gb PS3? Sony's wallet is getting empty - not consumer demand.

So why is it you regularly saw 20GB models in January in many stores?  In addition, Sony's wallet is nowhere near empty.

By December of 2006 it's proven that people don't want to pay huge bucks for a games system. So what does Sony do? They get rid of the cheaper version of the PS3, leaving only the more expensive one.

Are these guys business idiots or what?

Number_1_Gamer

The ultimate goal is to make money,  they lost more money on the $500 for each one sold than the $600 version.  Sounds like it would have been idiotic to keep it around.

That was the first 360 game I bought and it almost turned me off the console.  Thank God there are so many demos available on Live because I quickly found out that it was the game that sucked royally and not the console.
