but you have to admit, taking a $152 million dollar hit is not something SCE needs right now as they hemorrage money...

If this was a settlement as the article indicates the amount was probably factored in to Sony's books by their accountants before negotiations even took place. It's a common procedure before any litigation discussions begin so that each company knows what they can and cannot settle for. It's still a hit to SNE, but one they were probably prepared for and expected.

The ps3 a failure?! oh right people tend to judge the success of a consol after only 6 months of release this gen.

You can't use "only 6 months" as an excuse. Wii has been out 6 months and is a huge success.

I'm pretty sure the price has something to do with that.

Wii is the most expensive Nintendo console yet. GCN was Cheapest last gen and was still last place. Price has nothing to do with the Wii's Success. Price has everything to do with the PS3's downfall though.

And what downfall may that be? Almost 4 million 600 dollar units have been sold. That's far from a "downfall" lol. And I'm not sure if my memory serves me correctly, but I'm pretty sure I payed more for my Nintendo 64 when it was brand new then the cost of the Nintendo Wii.

All Nintendo Consoles prior to Wii were $199. PS3 isn't Sony's first high priced console. They also released a A/V version of the PS2 which cost $600 and didn't do very well.

The original NES was released with two SKUs, one being $249 and the other being $199.

Not neccessarily for a product that has been out for less than a year with a such a niche market.    

They have yet to sell a million blue ray discs last I checked. It couldnt have failed any harder.TrailorParkBoy
