Didnt that same developer also state that BOTH the 360 AND the ps3 versions have advantages and disadvantages?

Marcje124

Yes, but for some reason people overlook that.

Not their speakers.   In fact, Sony speakers can do what many other brands can't and that's make Bose actually sound somewhate decent.

Aha! Official confirmation that Nintendo will be there! Take that everyone who confuses me!

Also I can't remember why they made it smaller, if there was a reason in the first place.

nyoroism

Because it was being overrun with consumers and spectators. It was meant to be a venue for industry professionals and not gawking dorks staring at booth babes.

[QUOTE="smokeydabear076"]I really hope that there is no 360 version.lillefix

Why? If this is such a good game wouldn't you want as many people as possible to have access to it?

Because he believes that if they make it for the x-box the pc-version will suffer. Controllers adapted for a gamepad instead of a mouse, and things like that.

That's silly, it didn't hurt FEAR.

Basically, this guy wants the industry to move forward but doesn't want companies to take risks by introducing newer formats.

He thinks Sony makes poor products and prices them high so IT MUST BE TRUE and anyone who doesn't is IGNORANT.

SONY STOP INTRODUCING NEWER FORMATS AND STICK WITH WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE SO THE INDUSTRY CAN MOVE FORWARD! HAHA

Please tell me you see what's wrong with the statement I made.

You must understand that I am not talking about Blu-ray at all. Or even consoles to be honest. What I am referring to is Sony as a company introduces propietary formats and uses them in all their electronics to try to force other companies to use them regardless of the formats benefits or costs. This is no simply with media formats but with connection interfaces and standards. Imagine if you needed a different brand of TV for each television show you watched? Imagine if there were 4 different kind of HDMI interfaces. That is the kind of thing Sony's business practices lead to and it holds the industry back from adopting the formats.

If you want to apply this to Blu-ray it is simple. The industry is now held back because consumers cannot adopt either Blu-ray or HD-DVD because no one knows which one to invest in.

So you have a problem with UMD. Is that really a reason to hate Sony? Can you think of any other proprietary formats and "connectors" Sony has used or forced upon people? All of their newest stuff uses HDMI which is standard, Toslink, which is standard, component which is standard, and a slew of other standard connectors. You keep saying things yet providing no specific examples of any kind.

  • BetaMax (1975)
  • Mini-Disc (1991)
  • Sony Dynamic Digital Sound (1993)
  • Multi-Media Compact Disc (1994)
  • ATRAC (1999)
  • HiFD (1998)
  • Super Audio CD (1999)
  • Hi-MD (2004)

A lot of the standards and connection interfaces happened behind the scenes. It was a battle to get HDMI though.

Not one of those is a connector.  None of them were forced upon anyone.  You could make a case for Betamax but that was over 30 years ago,  and you still hate them for it?  I mean you HATE Sony because of a few offshot and niche formats?  You also said that Sony incorporates these formats into ALL of their electronics.  Can you tell me which one of these formats was forced into ALL of Sony's electronics?

Sony's products are definatly not over priced, there usually middle - high quality for low - middle prices (look at there car audio stuff, it's not the best.. but for what it costs (especially the amps) there very, very good).

Also, how does pushing new formats slow down the advancement of technology? You should probably think about that for more than 3 seconds...

Last, Haters and Fanboys are opposite sides of the same coin... theres really not much of a difference..

BeErBOnG29

Sony... "low-middle prices..." ROFLMFAO!

In terms of home audio, Sony's prices are actually near the bottom. Compare their stuff to that of Denon, B&W, Infinity, Marantz, Boston Acoustics, Polk, Yamaha and you'll see that Sony doesn't even relate to them pricewise.  And they shouldn't,  most of Sony's home audio gear is complete garbage.

[QUOTE="ramey70"]I'm also confused at what the topic creator considers a proprietary format, seeing as how Blu-ray isn't proprietary. Even the poor electronics comment is confusing since many of Sony's products, like cameras, video cameras, and HDTV's are considered the top of their class in terms of quality.robbie_basic

I was talking about Sony's past with proprietary formats not simply Blu-Ray as that is slightly more complex, they have many propietary formats and I don't just mean media storage, this includes connectors and standards which I was reffering to more. It's too much to get into here look it up if you wish.

If you think Sony's electronics are top of their class than you are one of the ignorant consumers I was talking about. Although their camcorders are fairly decent since they pioneered that area.

I never made a blanket statement regarding Sony's electronics, only that some of their electronics are of very high quality and considered very good to excellent by many people.   The Bravia and SXRD series HDTV's are considered some of the very best to be had by people at AVSforums, Cnet, and many other places.  Their D-SLR cameras are considered as good as Nikkon and Canon, though they are limited in accessories and available lenses.   However, their audio equipment such as speakers and receivers are definitely sub-par and in many cases downright awful.   I'm anything but an "ignorant consumer".  Ignorant consumers actually think Bose is high quality stuff, which I do not.
