Confirmation FTW:

http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/10/20/business/dvd.php

from the International Herald Times a very reliable news source.

It is HD-DVD, NOT bLu-RAY

elpoep

That article is dated October 20th, 2005.  It has nothing to do with the rumored Wal-Mart deal.

And one more thing!!!

When 300 comes out on Blu-ray than HD-DVD will die.....and Spiderman 3 (blu-ray) will hammer the final nail!

NocturnalDemon

300 will probably also come to HD-DVD.

And both will come to standard DVD which will sell by far the most.

And will look like garbage on HDTV's.

WalMart is far from the best place for movies...plenty of times ive found better deals at say Best Buy-and heck now most of the time I buy online since the best prices are online....I never see High Def movies at walmart anyways...and their DVD selection is just pathetic....I buy games every so often there since they do a much better job on games...but movies...never...Cronaroth

Agree, I buy most media from Amazon.  I won't step foot in a Wal-Mart.  The people in there are nasty and the checkout lines are too long.  I much prefer Target.

I'm sure that it will only come out on Blu-ray and DVD...not on HD-DVD

Based on what?

[QUOTE="Lazy_Boy88"][QUOTE="-supercharged-"]I still think M$ should release a Blu-Ray drive for the 360. squirrel337

Yeah they need to just end the format war now before even more people end up screwed over. Blu-ray is the obvious dominant format technically and from PS3.

Betamax was higher quality the VHS but we all know how that turned out.

And we have the first Betamax/VHS comparison.  I'm actually surprised it took this long.

That's not an article.  It's an opinion piece by Robert Ederle, one of HD-DVD's biggest cheerleaders.

That add-on is garbage. I wouldn't bother buying HD-DVD at all yet without Fox and Disney on board.

how many Disney bluray movies are available for purchase?

just curious.

Are you counting Buena Vista as Disney as well? Before answering any of your questions it's best to establish you're always elusive criteria for acceptable answers.

using the DISNEY brand that seems to hold so much power..

noone said bluray will "win" becuase of buena vista, do they...;)

hope that clears it up for you...

I think many of those who are truly enthusiasts in this hobby, and not raving fanboys such as yourself, understand that Buena Vista is counted as Disney and thought of as one in the same.

and this is where you start turning the topic away..

just answer the question: how many disney branded movies are for sale on bluray?

just a numerical response, please...;)

Zero.

Now I'll ask you in the same manner. How many Disney/Buena Vista movies are available for sale at the present time for Bluray. A simple numerical response will suffice.

the point was about Disney, not Buena Vista.

so, with all of the Disney branded movies from all the decades at their disposal, they've "supported" Bluray with exactly ZERO Disney branded movies....

wow... impressive "support"...

the name Disney is where the clout is; not the individual movies themselves, nulling your "what aobut buena vista" theory.

so one has to ask themselves, what kind of support is this anyway? Even as Disney has NOT reversed their position they MAY support hd dvd....

but why don't you tell us how manhy buena vista movies are available then tell us how many are in their total library..;)

That's amazingly rude on your part.  I was courteous enough to answer your question in a direct manner and did so before I inquired with a follow-up.  It's telling that you cannot be mature enough to oblige me with the same level of respect and courtesy.

Definitely not worth it. HD-DVD is a dead medium, there's no need to invest in a player now.Dire_Weasel

I don't think there's enough information to declare either format dead yet.  Everyone seems to think their crystal ball is right regarding this "war" however.
