Yes - this is true...

...but what exactly, are most of the 'debates' in system wars generally based on? Bragging 'my console is better than yours' - and, if you hadn't noticed that trend after some 3000+ posts, I have no idea what you've been reading. :?

Quite the contrary.  There are many here who debate the merits of the systems without emotionaly investing themselves in it, or being a "fan".  I've debated pros and cons of each system, and their respective companies.   If one system sells more than others, or even goes the way of the Dreamcast, I can easily just buy the respective "winner" with no feelings of sadness, remorse, or other.

People get layed off in companies all the time for various reasons. Right now Sony has a whole 6 years of data from last gen. to look at what branches make money and what branches bring little to the company. You think nobody loses jobs with MS or Nintendo, of course they do. Thats buisness you limit expenses BEFORE it becomes a problem, not after.

these are development studio layoffs, not sony's own workforce. Those cuts are coming as well.

the line in bold really says a lot about how poorly the ps3 strategy really is. The expense of that thing is enormous and it's obviously has become a problem.

It doesn't matter whether WalMart exists outside of the US. The US is the biggest market. The biggest market will dictate the winning format, as the biggest market will always be catered to.

Edit: and they're not losing "millions". They're losing "billions". And they lost millions with Beta Max...so sometimes the efforts do go for nothing.

Betamax didn't exactly lose millions for Sony.  Betacam, a form of Betamax, was very lucrative in the professional and commercial video market, especially when you factor in further derivatives DigiBeta and HDCAM.
