The only score I agree with is the Crackdown one. I mean I think that gamespot was super hardcore with the reviewing of that game.ViviathIf you read that NeoGaf thread, I think someone said that the Crackdown score in Play was a misprint and it should be 9.5 -- not 8.5
reilo's forum posts
NeoGaf I think he has a point. Why do people obsess over the negatives of a game so much? Isn't the point of Wii games that they are deeply flawed but extremely fun games? So why do people jump on PS3 games and try to overrate every negative thing and make it more important than the good things? I could name a couple GS reviewers that do just this -- place a too big of an emphasis on the negative rather than just Play (pun intended) a game? I'm not saying that MS deserves a 10 -- because quite frankly I have not played it, but why dismiss another person's opinion? If Motorstorm is as fun or even more fun than WarioWare, then why shouldn't it deserve a AAA? After all, MS doesn't bill itself as a technically realistic experience.Let me counter not by talking about Play, but about GameFan. At the time, we were always being told the exact same thing. And, let's be honest - sometimes, our scores were totally off. (I gave SamSho IV for the NeoGeo a 98/100... yikes.) But, we never proclaimed to be "profesional gaming journalists" or expert reviewers or anything like that; we were gamefans, we loved games, and we loved talking about them. Instead of saying "here's what's good, here's what's bad, here's the final result of those two," we'd often go into the parts of the game that we loved, that made the game enjoyable to whatever level it was. Our style was more casual, like one gamer to another, saying what they could look forward to from the game. Is that the proper way to do a proper review? Maybe not. But then, like now, there were plenty of other magazines out there going down that route, so we wanted to be an alternative, a magazine where even if you didn't agree with our opinions, you knew we loved video games and were at least passionate about what we wrote. .... So, you know, "going soft" on a review could also mean "appreciating the things it did right, and judging it according to the enjoyment you'll get from it." It all depends on how you look at things. (And, btw, I'm not saying that is Play's official stance, or my official stance. I'm just saying.)
[QUOTE="Runningflame570"][QUOTE="viper7721"][QUOTE="KeyWii"][QUOTE="rowzzr"]neat pics. but they would obviously look a tad better had they been in the 360viper7721PS3 is a more powerful system. Why isn't that abundantly clear to some people?
PS3 is a WEAKER system. PS3 has less accessible memory, a less efficient CPU, and a inferior GPU. PS3 is WORSE in every sense.
Now back to the topic at hand, Heavenly Sword has average graphics, but it will probably have sucky gameplay. Probably a 7.0 game.
Less efficient CPU, what are you smoking? All 512MB can also be accessed by either the CPU or GPU, the GPU is the one thing I can agree with but considering the higher peak performance and the role of the Cell CPU in helping to do pre-rendering and calculations for various effects its pretty much a wash there.
PS3 is a weaker system, just face it. PS3 could never do GeOW or Mass Effect graphics. Almost every multi-plat game looks significantly better on the 360, and it's gonna stay that way for future multi-plat games also.

[QUOTE="reilo"][QUOTE="Frizby3"]So are they moving to the 360 with the next one after the embarrasing sales on PS3 ?fuzzysquashIt sold nearly 600,000 in two regions. That's a tough thing to do when you are a new IP being debuted on the respective console's launch day. Not to mention that it still has yet to be released in Europe. The game will go beyond the 1,000,000 marker -- which is an impressive feat to accomplish. If you think that's a flop, then 90% of the Xbox 1's games are flops, too. Good to hear that a sequel is coming, the game deserves it. Interesting...I didn't know it sold that many. Where did you find out? NPD + Media Create.
Considering 360's were hard to find till almost spring...I think it's damn impressve it only that far back.
NPD estimates the remaining 30-40% of sales from the major retailers that they cannot get sales information from. They include the numbers in their total, it's just that the rest is estimated based upon the trend that is going on at the time. And I can counter the "hard to find" argument with the fact that the PS3 is touted as being "too expensive" and "lacking games." That's impressive.
