For 10$ you get eight minigames, some more fun than others, but all of them entertaining and highly polished.

This isn't a game I'd play on my own, but it's great in addition to wii sports to show your friends what the wii's motion sensing is about, as well as getting them used to the control. It's also fun as a multiplayer game; it isn't the deepest game you can find, but it isn't supposed to be. It complements wii sports well in that wii sports focuses on the motion sensing while most of wii play's games are based more on the IR sensor, and both of them feature a somewhat similar frame to quite simplistic, though addicting, minigames.

In my opinion, Wii Play is extremely underrated; people forget that at 10$ it was never meant to be a full game on it's own right but rather an introduction to the Wii. As long as you're getting a wiimote anyway and are not expecting a deep single player experience, I'd definitely reccomend it.

Though they definitely aren't the only thing I consider, reviews are one of the major factors I look at before making a purchase.

However, I as someone said, I read the review, and not just look at the score; often some of the stuff a reviewer didn't like don't matter or make sense to me, or one of the things he did like don't seem meaningful or important to me.

Generally speaking, I don't really trust reader reviews - most of the people write a review because they don't agree with the original review, and that makes the reviews biased for two reasons - a) well, as i said, only people who didn't agree with the review write them; b) if the review made them mad, people will often exaggerate to the other direction; If a game someone liked got a 6, he might give it a 9+ when he really thinks the game deserved a 7 or 8. The only reason I'd read reader reviews is if for some reason the original review didn't make sense to me, and even then I'd take everything with a grain of salt, so to speak.

Also, off course I also look at gameplay vids and stuff like that - and if a game that got an 8 interests me more than a game that got a 9 I'll still buy the 8; however, if a game I thought interested me got a 6, I would rarely even consider it.

Definitely not...

While the wii has some neat online features, the bulk of the great games so far don't have any online features; If you want the system for VC titles, sure, it's pointless, but if you want it for games such as MP3 and SMG (which, imo, is the main reason people buy the console) you'd hardly know the difference.

Can you use the Zapper (or Zapper-like peripherals like Nyko's Perfect Shot, which I'm considering) on Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 for the online gameplay as well, or only for the arcade mode? How does it compare to a normal nunchuk + wiimote setup?

I like the wii's library so far, although I could use more re4-like games (more mature titles and shooters, though don't get me wrong, I'm not a violence whore, and I love games like SMG and Z&W, but the wii could use more of other game-types as well...).

I don't really get people who complain that the wii doesn't have enough games... I mean, how many do you need?

The thing that does worry me a bit, though, is what we know so far about 2008... aside from brawl, mario kart, and NMH, there aren't many (potentially) great titles I know about. but I guess we'll have to wait and see... One way or the other, the wii had a very promising first year, imo.

Thanks to everyone who answered!

I still can't decide, but i think i might buy corruption first... in the near future I want to buy NMH, SSBB, MKW, Traum Center, Killer7 and NiGHTS... So playing all three of them might be a problem.

However, i come to think of it, i might decide to wait with the series (even though corruption is a "must have") until summer or something, when i'll have time to play all three in order... we'll see when I finish SMG and Z&W :D

Even though I had a gamecube I (for some reason) never got around to getting Metroid Prime (or MP2). Now, with the wii and all, I really wanna play corruption; do you think I should play the first two first? I mean, I would love to play them, but both my free time and cashflow limit how many games I can play, and there are a lot of other games I want to play too so... you opinions please

Do you not know the meaning of the words "no", "more" and "heroes"?

It's pretty obvious honestly. No more heroes.

First of all, your post is annoying - Nintendo never stopped making good games, you said it yourself, so what's wrong with them making games that more casual players like as well? When an eigth entry in a series (meaning people know what to expect) sells as much as mario party 8 did, obviously people like it.

I actually like the Mario Party series. It's lame when your on your own, but it was never really intended for that - ever notice it's called mario party? if you didn't realize by now, it's supposed to be played with friends... and then it can get really fun.

The problem with the series at this point, imo, is they stopped trying to innovate. 8 games over ~2.2 generations is just too much - what they should do is just release one or two per generation, so they have enough time to actually renovate the series.

And by the way, as a hard-core gamer (i hate that term, but at this point you cant avoid using it) I still recognize that the wii is great for this sort of thing. Just because you play Metroid Prime and Zelda doesn't mean you can't enjoy games like warioware too - and realize they are a perfect fit for the system - not instead of games like smg, but at least when it comes to nintendo's game sthat isn't the case anyway.

This is a pretty dumb move, and honestly I don't get it, (probably has something to do with royalties for using mp3, or the body behind aac bribing nintendo,) but I've never used the wii for that anyway.

However, I love nintendo as much as the next fanboy, but like any company, they make mistakes. And as fanboys, we have to pretend to not notice stuff like region locking, lack of ethernet port, and refusal to use an HDD :P

Not sure what my point was, but the bottom line is that no company is perfect, nintendo included, and while they piss me off sometimes I wouldn't buy a 360.

Cyber-

you can use an ethernet cable you just need the adpater which is at any major store.

I know, but it sucks that you have to shell out 40$ for the privilege of using a wired connection.
