the e8600 ill probably stick with as its a 90 dollar difference here.

i think you may have had a typo with the ram? i was looking at DDR3 but its SO expensive.

also didnt know the 280's had dropped so much. maybe its cos im in adelaide :P lol.

hey ppl im new and im building my first gaming system. ATM i just have a gaming laptop which is so so, it can play cod4 well and even managed crysis on **** settings. the specs so far that ive decided on ATM are:

CPU Intel E8600 $309

GPU xfx 280gtx xxx $600

PSU silverstone 850W $217

RAM 4GB Ballistix tracer DDR2 1066 $145

CASE Silverstone TJ07(black) $376.5

Monitor 28' viewsonic $686

Motherboard xfx 780i $323.4

Mouse Logitech G9 $80

Keyboard Razer Lycosa $80

Mousemat Razer Speed mat $20

HD 2x W.D. 640GB $190

i can get this for pretty much spot on 3k maybe less depending on what prices are when i get it ( around a month) but im just wondering if that will be a solid system and value for money (i know the vid card is a bit exessive). Any help with things like compatability issues would be great, and i know 3k is a bit much but imo its good value for money (except the GPU perhaps) what about you? THANK YOU!
