I will be testing this theory on my rig. I hope it works then I can bump down my multiplier to 7 so I can bump up the fsb 400+. How do you over clock your ram? Mine is running slower than it should be. Great thread :)teddyrob

Well I bump my FSB up and the RAM speed goes up as a result of that. It is OCZ PC8000 1000Mhz 5 5 5 @2.1V so that is what I put it at. iI just sits there @ 800Mhz if I don't up the FSB.

I usually check it with CPU-Z when it boots up. Check the timings are right etc.

With Intel MB you have to use a divider or a memory multiplier that is taken from the FSB.With a Nforce MB you can unLink the ram and set it however you want.

What? Lets slow down our CPUs?...............ok..............................run 4870X2s in Crossfire then slow down your CPU and see what happens.X360PS3AMD05

Your CPU communicates with everything in your system through the FSB and viceversa so to say you are slowing it down isn't correct you would just be removing unused clocks. What would happen in Crossfire or SLI by slowing down the CPUmulti and increasing the FSB? well they both use the FSB to communicate with the CPU and from all the test i ran with SLI I got 2 to 5 fps with a higher FSB than I did with a higher clock and another 5 FPS with a moderate OC to the GPU's .Take a look at these benchmarks and compare the FSB to the CPUclock. This is also why intel went to QPI and with far cry 2 it seems to hurt more than help but with everything else the game performs as expected when GPU limited.

At the end of that review they say bad things about quads and your MB but mentioned a BIOS update that was supposed to help you should check Asus to see if it is there.Looks like they have Asus M3N-HT deluxe bios update for quads.

i always had the feeling that high frequencies werent the way to go for me as i saw litterally no performence increase in games. in previous test i found that oc'ing ram mattered alot. even though i didnt go to 3.0ghz its still enough evidence for me to say that high fsb and high mhz ram matters most to me.

[/QUOTE\]

Thanks for taking the test i wish more people would.

well wheni get my phenom II 940, i want to overclock it a little, but i dont know how to do the fsb and all that, i just have this jumperfree AI thingy on my mobo (see sig)

so when i get my new processor, i might post again in here, so i can get some help, if i just leave it at stock 3ghz, and raise the fsb of the cpu and memory, ill get better performance than if i just use that jumperfree AI thing?

Lach0121

It's in your jumperfree AI the CPU frequency is what you are looking for that's the FSB. you could also try lowering the NB multiplier if it's not stable with a high FSB.The DRAM Configuration submenu contains all board memory timings and speed related settings. The Memory Clock Frequency option sets the system memory speed, with the selectable settings corresponding to ratios based on the CPU FSB. M3N-HT Deluxe.

i even lowered the ram mhz on the 8x test. it still came out on top. no wonder i saw high frequency a waste.

Could you run more tests and post them in this other thread. Also could you start @3.6and just lower the multiplier and get it as close to 3.1 with the same FSB or as close to as possible. This means the the FSB for 3.6 and 3.0 or.1 should be the same or as close to as possible.

Because of my stock cooler with my Q6600. I raised FSB and put multiplyer lower. I did that to get my memory Pc8000 at 1000Mhz 5 5 5 settings. Results in a little increase in performance due to the FSB and memory at higher than 800Mhz.

I've also lowered my Vcore because I noted the DS3L put the voltage at 1.325 and the temperature of the cores were getting a bit high. I've lowered the Vcore to 1.25 and lost nearly 10C of the all the cores.

You could also try OC'ing your GPU with rivatuner just use a constant divider like "30 moderate OC 20, 15, 10 extreme OC. It works like this GPU 600, shaderclock 1620,memoryfreq 900, if you divide them by 30 and add it to the stock values you end up with this GPU 620, shader 1674,memoryfreq 930 that should help.

youve just killed it  3.6 GHz with 7x mutli (my P35 is freakin amazing O.o) DOES do a bit more than with 9xGTR2addict

LOL i hope you don't kill your system with that is it stable and with good temps.

its surprisingly stable, but apparently, higher fsb = higher temps... at 7x my laods are 70/69/69/71, not good

My god whats your FSB @ by my calculation's you are @ 515 or 2060 which is amazing and hot as hell.

crysis is not the only game that matters when it comes to benchmarking, to really prove this, a full complement of tests would need to be run. Lightbulb9

That's the point of this thread to test multiple games and see. I have that's why i want to see others try it.
