Ok so next year when I have like $600 to spend I'm going to build a gaming computer. the think is I need this thing to last me 2-3 years cuz my dad got mad at me for wanting to get a new computer just as we finished building my new one (I didn't really kno better and I got kind of out dated stuff, or hardware thats not ready for the futer of gaming). So I need your opinion on the system I'm going to build, ok here it is:
Gigabye:nForce 570 SLi,AM2,ATX,2pic-e, 3Gb/s SATA, DDR2 800 (pc 6400)
AMD athlon 64x2 4800+ brisbane 2.5GHz AM2
EVGA:8800GTS 320MB GDDR3 320-bit 96 unifide pipe lines, Im going to get an other GTS when games start to get reallyintence and graphicaly demanding and put then in SLi mode. then eventualy get 9 serise card or 10 (thats when GFX cards become 64 bit)
WINTEC AMPO:2GB(2-1GB sticks)DDR2 800 (pc6400)
HIPRO:700Watt PSU
Artic cool: freezer pro64 92mm, 40CFM, 900-2200RPM
western digital:7200RPM 250GB, 16MB chache

Thats a decent build.
Uhh... isn't graphic cards already doing 128 to 256 bits? Also, if so the graphics in games are going to be more intense, the 8800GTS by itself should handle it fine (SLi still isn't a major factor in gaming)
the memory of most if not all high end gpu's are 128-bit or more. the GPU'S then selfs haven't reached 64-bits they'er 32-biti dont really want to start any console and PC war but i have a question. F.E.A.R. is one of the most graphicly demanding games on all MAX settings right now, im sure we can all agree on that. Is the Xbox 360 or the PS3 powerful enough to run FEAR on all Max setting at 40+ fps? Or does a PC with a Core 2 duo, 2 gig of ram, and a X1950pro beat it in fps and look better?payton88
ok I have a ATI X1650XT AGP, 1.5GB DDR266, and a AMD athlon 642GHz 3000+. and heres a video of how well that game runs on a system like mine, and your system is waybetter than mine.this video is recorded in a low resolution to reduse the file size. I run F.E.A.R. at 800x600 maxed without FSAA and AF just billinear filtering w/ soft shadows.

multiplayer would be the only thing i would consider watching, beating up on the AI isnt really exciting unless u have never seen the game before.ZratedLT11
I can't go multi-player cuz my computer lags only on onlines games. but not the internet
