@Cashmoney007: The big difference between the Switch and PS4/X1 is that ps3/360 had great reputations by the end of their life cycle and consumers knew they can count on all new 3rd party games coming to those consoles. I think the real reason Nintendo needed a much better launch than their competitors is because the Wii U failed. In 2016 the Wii U had about 3 games worth playing if that. I know for me I looked at the game drought last year and said ok this makes sense since the "NX" is coming out soon...but here we are looking at not just a lackluster launch but a pretty lame first couple of months.
@savagerodent: Not always...I know a few gamers that play mostly multi-platform games on their console of choice. Nobody bring up PC please because these few I mentioned are casuals that can care less about a PC. My brother in law is a perfect example of this. He owned a 360 since it came out in 05 and I shit you not he does not own a single console exclusive.
@Bread_or_Decide: Not entirely true...Outside of Mario Color Splash... a lame StarFox game and Pokken Tournament (which I did like) the Wii U had no kind of support in 2016. The Wii U is a good console that I had tons of fun with but the first and last year of it's life were awful.
@gotrekfabian: Exactly! I am going to play on my OG PS4 until I buy a 4K TV down the line and then upgrade to a Pro and by that time it will be a lot cheaper and come with games.
I was thinking that PS5 might be released in 2019 which I'd be fine with since it gives the Pro as many years on the market as they gave the OG PS4.
@casshan01: The PS3 caught up to the 360 and maybe I am wrong here but last time I heard the PS3 outsold the 360 worldwide. Unless you meant they crushed the ps3 as far as online gaming goes...then yeah...they did
@sandstormmcd: Your comment was fine until the very end... you talk like this to people in real life? I was just thinking that maybe Nintendo would have done better marketing it the other way around. Look how many gamers are calling it an underpowered home console when it really isn't a home console.
I agree the 3DS is doing well but Nintendo should kill off support and go all in on the Switch. The 3ds has been out long enough.
@Blade_Runner_07: Honestly...I am also afraid that Scorpio will end up having a good amount of games that won't see the light of day on the Xbox 1s... I have a feeling it is truly going to be a next gen console and not Microsoft's version of a ps4 pro.
If I am wrong then that's cool too... because I am sure more and more Xbox 1s bundles will be out there at reasonably prices.
@cruxedol7: Exclusives and competition is what drives all industries forward and benefits the consumers. Not sure what your general knowledge is of business but exclusives are a must for console makers. This will never change and honestly it shouldn't change. If we ever end up with one console maker that has all the games on it you better believe quality will take a hit and prices will be through the roof.
