@downwithsony667: It does start to look and feel the same for people who played previous titles. But for someone who's never played a Far Cry game before, they will definitely love Far Cry 5.
One thing I like about the Far Cry series is every game has managed to be better than the last.
@m_nay2008: Yeah, that right there pretty much sold me on the game. I think that was Ubisoft's way of admitting that they f**ked up with all the tower climbing in previous titles. Seems just about everyone hated that aspect of the game.
Now all Ubisoft needs to do is stop littering the map with collectibles. Which perhaps they have? I hope so. 20 collectibles per game should be the max. Not hundreds and hundreds like Ubisoft loves to do.
@kaminobenimizu: I said mindless, because whenever I play "boring" button masher games like God of War, my brain goes into autopilot mode; and it's almost like I stop thinking. Very few games do that to me. Diablo 3 also being one of them, as well as the Devil May Cry series.
BTW, what is the DW series? And yes, I tried google.
@KILLEDbCRITICAL: Believe what you want. I played 1-3. Each time I was expecting the game to get better, mainly because fanboys like you were always raving about the game.
But by all means, tell me what more there was to previous God of War games, besides mindless hack and slashing? Oh, and if you're going to tell me the story was so good, don't even bother responding.
Gameplay wise, I genuinely would like to know what you God of War fanboys find so compelling about the game?
@KILLEDbCRITICAL: I played the first 3. Very forgettable experience. As I said, just a mindless button mashing hack and slash. Never bothered with Ascension because I knew exactly what to expect. 3 times was already too much. Glad to see the developers finally decided to change the formula. Maybe this time around God of War will actually be fun to play. One thing for sure, you will definitely love it since your standards are obviously very low if you liked the previous God of War games.
I'm with the author of this article. The previous God of War games were very boring. Yes, games that are non-stop action can still be very boring. The entire God of War series is just mindless hack and slashing for 12 hours straight. There's just nothing else there. The Diablo games are another extremely boring series. I'm not totally sold on this new God of War, but from what I've seen so far, it does look interesting.
@d9000: It would look like shit if you tried plugging your old Playstation into a new TV. Your best bet would be to download an emulator and play those old games on your PC.
@garysan: I liked them both about equally, but one major flaw in both games is that they were way too easy. Even on the hardest difficulty, the game was a breeze. It's almost like they made it so easy because they figured girls would be playing the game. They definitely need to ramp up the difficulty in the next game. And when I say ramp up the difficulty, I'm not talking about a lack of checkpoints. That's just cheap. Challenging with generous checkpoints is what I want in a game. And checkpoints always "after" the cut-scenes.
@lower_case_dave: Actually, yes, that does help. Strange that I never heard of this game before? Judging by the lack of comments in this review, seems I'm not the only one.
