@ALCHEMISTx24x7 @FAIL_TR0LL @Jestersmiles I still play my SNES and PSOne games on occasion. I'd say it's a very valid point to wonder if the system becomes useless once M$ moves on
@Jestersmiles I never thought about that. Assuming the XB1 is even capable of surviving 20 years, I doubt they'll keep the authenication servers running for that long. Then what? Do they patch the console so users can still play it? I doubt it considering who we're talking about
@racerxgundam with Cloud you can basically get virtual RAM to help increase performance and free up functions from the console. It's still a pretty new technique though, so I don't think it's going to have the effect M$ is telling people it will. Still the one good thing about XB1 so far, is that it has a lot of RAM, so I don't really see how using memory from CLoud is even necessary at this point. I guess it kinda future-proofs the console for a while
@NoAngle Microsoft's already announced that they're going to be using the Kinect to monitor things just like this for commercial purposes. It's definitely not farfetched that they'd set up agreements with their business partners to use the manditory camera to help charge more based on whose in the room.
@BLaverock So if you have friends over to watch a movie, you could gget a fine for having too many people watching it in your living room, or having too may people taking turns playing Halo on a local setup. Xbox 1 just keeps getting better and better. Make sure you all read the user agreements your accepting this time around. M$ is looking to screw you all for every penny they can. The more I hear about this system, the better I feel about my decision to stay away from Microsoft consoles. 4 RRODs on 360 and 2 failed disc drives on the original already made me lose faith in Microsoft's abilty to design hardware that lasts, but these invasions of privacy and really shady business practices have sealed the deal.
And here I thought I was done buying 360 games. Of course I already own The Lost Chapters for the original Xbox and PC, so unless there's some new content or a very low price point, I might have to pass. Or at least wait till I find it used for like $10. This was the best entry of the series though. For those that haven't played it this should be a treat. I did like 2 and 3, but the first one was the most fun in my opinion. The sequels got tle worse with each entry.
It's ironic really. Sony's becoming the new Xbox (hopefully minus the faulty systems) and Microsoft's becoming the new Big Brother (probably still with faulty systems).
We all knew this was coming. It's still a way better deal than XBL with all the extras they throw in. Although they aren't saying yet if the other services will be available without a plus membership. I imagine not though. You'll likely have to pay to use the services like Netflix that you already pay for. Since I rarely play games online and my TV rocks Netflix for free, I just might be passing on this service. Especially if my older consoles will still play these services for free. I suppose it depends on whether they'll still be throwing in as many extra games to download free to PS+ members and keep all the discounts. I guess we'll know soon enough.
