First time I heard this I was like "There has to be some sort of deeper meaning to this. o_O" So let's see what I came up with. The song is "Hello from Inside a Shell." and can be found on the CD "Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies: A Variety of Whimsical Verse" If you are cool then you will go buy that cd because I told you to, and you should do everything I tell you to do because I am awesome. The original lyrics are in black, my own words are in pink. (duh.) And awayyyy we go. Hello from inside a shell you can see me cause my shell is invisible. It wase made especially for me by the brilliant inventor Lecithin E. Lecithin is a synonym for... phosphatidylcholine? Ok, a quick check on Wikipedia proves it. :D It also says that "lecithin is the emulsifier that keeps chocolate and cocoa butter in a candy bar from separating." I think his name has something to do with the last, based on the lyrics later. But what the "shell" is supposed to mean, to me, I think is that this inventor has convinced the narrator to just live in his own little lah lah land and ignore what's around him. He still lives with everyone, but in his mind he has his own little world. I ride my unicycle downstairs to his laboratory when I khow he's there Working on robotic aquatic bees, perfecting his mechanical donkeys or running from exploding test tubes. I don't really get this part. I do, however, think that the 'running from exploding test tubes' means that the inventor is trying to run away from the problems and complications he made. Which is actually pretty obvious, but whatever. Hello from inside a shell you can see me cause my shell is invisible. It was made especially for me by the infamous inventor Lecithin E. Maybe he's infamous because all he's done is wrapped people's minds in this weird little reality and they don't really have a way out once they get in. Also he runs away from his problems instead of trying to fix them, so maybe that adds onto it. I ride my boat car through the rays of his reverse megnetitizer when I'm feeling brave. Megnetitizer? That's... not a word, but ok whatever I got these off of the band's *official! website!* so I'm not arguing. however it could be a typo... but no, they're probably just high and just inventing words at this point. And boat car, the first thing that comes to mind are those old trucks that they turn into boats for people escaping Cuba to go to America. o_O Then everything I touch shoots into space and astronauts shake their fists at us saying be careful. Now it seems as if the main character/narrator has gotten something special in his life, however there's still a higher power of authority that still looks down, even if they are millions of miles away. He's promised to build us a world of our own far away from this one In uncharted regions where no one will go. He's promised to build us a world of our own. We'll find an island somewhere near the North Pole And He'll invent lots of strange new animals to inhabit it so we won't feel alone. And we'll be happy there there there all covered in snow. He's promised to build us a world of our own and here we go I know this has nothing to do with the song but the first thing that came to my mind was "WOOOW what's up with the artic. o_O" Well it definatly looks like that narrator is singing to someone now instead of just talking to himself about Lecithin E. He wants to invite whoever it is into his shell or fantasy world, however thanks to Lecithin it's become a reality now. So much to the point where he'll try to re-animate the narrator's own imagination that he's making up new animals. But you see, it's just animals that are going there. We don't hear anything about Lecithin E. also comming to live in this little spot somewhere in the Artic. Just the main character and whoever he's singing to now. He wants to be alone with them, but not lonely and isolated and feeling like they're the only thing in the world. The line "We'll be happy there there all covered in snow" might mean that they're running away to this strange land to hide from all the people in the world. Like they don't even want to remember they're human. And you know, I think that's it. Overall I think it's a song about a boy who lives in his own little world who hasn't really had a voice in his life, meets a cool guy, and that guy makes the world come to life. I also believe it's sort of a "prequal" of some sort to the song "Wraith Pinned to the Mist (and Other Games)" Just check out some of the lyrics, they're... similar? Let’s have bizarre celebrations Let’s forget who forget what forget where We’ll have bizarre celebrations I’ll play the Satyr in Cypris you the bride being stripped bare Let’s pretend we don’t exist Let’s pretend we’re in Antartica I dunno I think it's just the whole Antartica and old mythology refrence. It's like it's the same character, but he's been removed from his weird little fantasy land that was made for him. Now he has to just imagine he's back there instead, because that's all he has. All he has is his imagination.
