@chillingnaire: "6-7 games with that combat and reviews praising it but yeah now it sucks"

My point exactly. People have been praising these games for years, ONE person comes out and says he didn't like the gameplay and people are up in arms about HIS opinion. And I'm the one acting salty? I liked these games too but I'm not going to get upset because someone else didn't like them.

@patriotplayer90: "Nothing more boring than ripping enemies in half with your bare hands."

I'm a fan of the old games but, to be fair, "ripping enemies in half with bare hands" can be boring if the gameplay and mechanics don't feel right. For example, Mortal Kombat wouldn't work if it didn't have solid mechanics and gameplay to accompany the over the top violence.

I never thought the GoW games were boring, maybe just repetitive if you played them all, but I can see how someone would find the game boring if the gameplay just didn't connect with them

@moistcarrot: I just don't know if there is much more they could do to improve the formula. The first 3 games weren't all that much different from each other. Mostly the same weapons and combos with with some different abilities in each. Based on what I saw and played from Acension, which wasn't much, it wasn't necessarily bad it was just too much of the same. After 3 main entry games and 2 console generations I'm ready for something new, similar to what happened to Resident Evil with 4. Not everyone is going to like it but I'd rather see something new and different than a rehash of the past.

@gameroutlawzz: "If you think past GOWs combat was boring then you clearly havent seen how repetitive the gameplay looks from all the fucking footages Ive seen from this game so far."

Except that he's actually played the game and is basing his opinion off of first hand experience and not the few gameplay videos we have seen. I agree, the gameplay looks like it can get repetitive based on the videos (though I'm expecting there's a lot we haven't seen yet) but I'm going to respect the opinion of someone that's actually played the game instead of making assumptions based on the little gameplay that's been shown so far.

@pause422: "The combat wasn't boring, but everyone getting super defensive about just HOW wrong the article is"

The title is clickbait but the author clearly states this is just his personal opinion. Nothing wrong with having an opinion that doesn't follow along with the general consensus. It's not like he's trying to rewrite history and say they gameplay was boring and everyone knows it.

I'll tell you this by the time Ascension released the game was getting stale and repetitive. Using the same variation of weapons and combos can only be fun for so many games. I've been wanting to replay 3, waiting for a good sale on PSN (April PS+ game?), so I can see how well the gameplay holds up. Maybe I'll enjoy it more than I think will but I feel like it's something I'll play for an hour two, get a taste, and then be done with it.

@Life-is-a-Game: the writer clearly states this is his personal opinion and not a matter of fact. Are people not allowed to dislike the gameplay of the original games?
