@Thanatos2k: Paying an employee does not count as profit... That's not how it works. It's a development cost. It's really not a complicated concept.
@nikolistaryLetter From the Chairman(9/30/2014)- "I have a lot of industry friends pat me on the back and say, “Wow, it must be so great to be operating in profit even before you ship!” Their look usually turns to incredulity when I explain that my intention is for all the money we bring in before launch to be spent on development."
That's just one of the many times they've stated that every dollar brought in before going gold will go to development and not profit.
@letsgame82: Every single dollar of crowdfunding is going into the development of the game, post release content, and server maintenance. CIG isn't making any profit until the game goes gold.
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty - 7 years development
Noticing a trend? Stat Citizen has only been in development for 3 1/2 years. One of those years consisting of actually hiring their staff, getting office space, and ramping the company up to speed.
@whiskeywhiskers: Engine development takes a LONG time, and a lot of expertise. They had no idea the game would get this big, and couldnt afford to create their own engine. Originally, they only anticipated getting $2-$3 million in crowdfunding.
@bakula: It has nothing to do with them not giving third person attention. It's NOT a third person oriented game. It's not going to happen. Do you complain about an RTS not having First Person capabilities?
