@intotheminx:
Because they're more likely to launch first, and this worked well for Xbox 360 after its 2005 launch, it outsold PS3 (starting in late 2006) for a number of years. PS3 only caught up to 360 around 2011 or so.
Also, because R&D on the next platform usually begins right after a new console launches, and no later than a 2 years after. The current systems have been on the market for more than 2 years now.
Phil Spencer said a couple of times now, he fully expects there to be another console.
PS4 has outsold Xbox One 2:1 worldwide.
What I'm saying is, it should be assumed that Microsoft (and Sony) have started R&D on their next gen consoles. Neither of them would be coming out "soon" but internally, both Microsoft & Sony are almost certainly having discussions on when they will come out, what features they'll have, and the overall direction of the next console cycle.
I thought you were implying the sales of the XB1 were bad and they should abandon ship. The sales aren't bad at all. Sony is just killing it.
Yeah, I wasn't implying that. XB1 sales are quite good, but PS4 sales are something else.
