While that would be a sound argument, it is not in this case. Where politicians get their money can have a lot of influence on what their policies are.

airshocker

Politicians are still people. They already disclose the money they receive, but asking them to tell you WHO gave them the funds is unreasonable.

ofcourse it isnt. geeze, when walmart sponsor your next president, and your next president makes legislation to ban all other department stores apart from wallmart, and then wallmart hikes its prices 50x what they are today, because they have no competition, you will see why this is so important.

I've been confused about the reasons and complaints about this. As for your free speech comment, if the government forced everyone to publicize what was told to them in private, no that wouldn't be free speech.guynamedbilly
its nothing to do with free speech. it is a conflict of interests. their position is a position of trust. their interests must only be the interests of the american people. not corporations or businesses. a conflict of interests in a position of power is against the constitution. it is illegal although its not prosecuted because everyone in power today is already corrupt. so a government or member of government should be forced to disclose their dealings. not every word they speak, but when money has been transferred, there should be full documentation showing from where its came from and why. because that is how to keep the american people FREE, and that is the primary function of your constitution. if corporations can buy political power, then you will be enslaved, like you are being already, having to give all your money to the banks and being completely at their mercy. the writers of your constitution knew that this would happen, and so you have these rights to defend you. your right to bare arms is specifically to secure your freedom from a corrupt government. SPECIFICALLY.

lol.. "who cares". what a zombie.

you should care, this is why:

politicians represent YOU. they are meant to represent what YOU want and what is in the best interested of YOU.

if business interests are allowed to secretly sponsor them, as they are now, then your politicians no longer server YOU. they serve the CORPORATIONS. and what is the only thing that corporations want? to suck money and power away from YOU. This is why all of your wealth is being handed over to banks, you freaking idiot. You are like a pathetic animal who has been bred to be so lazy and dumb that you can be eaten alive because you dont defend yourself. mmm shushi.

Grow a pair of balls and defend yourself and your family, your offspring and the honor of your ancestors, wimp.

CHOASXIII

Oh looks like someone likes name calling

see you still cant defend yourself. post a "funny" image if it makes you feel better. your still a wimp. even more of one because you cannot face truths, you try to deflect them.

Politicians serve the mob that puts them there. Corporations can't vote. They can bribe and lobby and influence in other ways, but in the end it's the mob that puts them there.

no it isnt, and you know full well it isnt. corporations control all media, tv, radio, newspapers, websites. they put who they want in power buy controlling the media, and therefor public opinion. just research the BILDERBURG CLUB.

Their Argument? They don't want their donors to suffer any blacklash - but if money is free speech, then shouldn't you also suffer the consequences of that speech?

Storm_Marine

I think the US should have a law that forces Gamespot to reveal the identities and addresses of GS users that make political threads. How would you like that?

rite, let me just straighten this out for you. what is the primary function of a government? it is to defend the rights of the people. if the rights of the people are at threat, as they are when politicians who can change laws are at the mercy to businessmen, then it is right that something is done to change that. someone speaking on gamespot does not threaten the rights of anyone, so to try and make out "oh well you wouldnt like someone snooping on you so why should we check that our government is not corrupt??", is retarded. you are another wimp who has been largely bred by corporations which means youve been bred to be incapable of defending yourself. its sad to see.
