so what games are you pro at? personally i think 2ms/5ms makes little to no difference. Is it a good monitor? Not really. It's as cheap as it gets. If I were to get a TN panel for gaming, I would get one with a maximum response time of 2ms.
The IPS panel linked is also low-end. Colors will be slightly better, viewing angle will be better, but motion performance will be worse. It all depends on what you're looking for.

against a real player i would not last 5 minutes? dude, i come to cod 4 server vs 50 people, play 3 or 4 games using 0 bullets and 0 frags, win every game and leave. dont believe me? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTN6ohpDoIs - and i think that video is 5 straight games, not 3 or 4.[QUOTE="seercirra"]
[QUOTE="ionusX"]
seercirca is a known poser and a troll. against a real player i doubt he would last 5 minutes. he claims to be a pro gamer and when you look him up on xfire he has barely 300 hours into CoD4 as his most played game XD i have nearly 100 hours more and im probably still a downright noob compared to alot of ppl
JigglyWiggly_
i did that like 2 years ago, and its not even a "highlight", it is just what happens every game, but if i were to play now it would be even better than that.

xfire says 300 hours because i havnt logged into it for over 2 years.
and if you wanna try and say the way i play is unskillfull, i was getting scores like 130-15 before even starting to play this way, you need to be that good to even bother trying to play like i do.
think before you speak. there is nobody else on the whole internets who can play this way as well as i can. the only famous players who play this way, play mw3, because of cheap perks and 2x knife range, they also play on xbox in 6v6 games vs kids who dont possess a mouse. you will find no one else playing cod4 on pc on big servers like that.
cod4lol against TOTALLY GUD PPL
KDR means nothing btw, it's all about how ur playing and who ur playing against
also i play most mp fps at 1024x768 except for games like CSS, so laptop gaeming is fine
i'm up for random challenges, i can play cod4 1v1
ahahah. sure, big boy. on one condition. the only point of a laptop is so you can take it away from your desk and use it in your bed, or on a train, and so on. so for you to adequately defend "gaming" laptops, you need to be playing me on a bus, train, or in your bed. because otherwise you may aswel be using a proper computer ie a desktop.you, using your laptop, on a bus, or on your bed, vs me, with my GAMING PC. sitting at a desk with surround sound, LOOOADSSA space to spin my mouse, a perfectly flat black quality mouse mat which will never skip (unlike a fking duvet), and a nice big monitor. ok?
you really think you have a chance?
ok dude lets humour you and your offensive attitude.
His list sucks. You'd have to a mouth breathing 12 year old to think it's "cool" or accurate.
Allow me to tear it down point by point.
a: you need to be able to concentrate on it.
That's subjective. I, as well as anyone else, can concentrate as much as I (we) want to. This isn't Nazi gaming Germany. It's a ****ing past time, a hobby.
you dont need a "gaming" machine to play freecell on a train. if people come looking for "gaming" equipment, you can assume, rightly, that they are looking for something that can do more than an average tablet pc. if they are looking for a "hobby" machine, to play games that dont require much attention, then they are NOT looking for a "gaming" machine.
b: you need a large screen
That's subjective. No you don't. You can game on any size screen you want at any resolution the screen allows you to game at. Derp
again, you are confusing HOBBYING with GAMING. a HOBBYIST has no problem playing on a small screen at 1024/768. a GAMER who comes here asking for information to improve his GAMING experience, does.
c: you need to be comfortable
What's with you and needs? Do you know what needs are? Hell, you don't even need gaming, it's just a really fun distraction from life. With that said, laying in bed with a laptop on my lap and a mouse to my side seems pretty damn comfortable to me. Sitting in a recliner with a laptop on my lap while I use my mouse on an end table seems pretty damn comfortable to me.
once again, difference between GAMING and HOBBYING. a GAMER sits for hours in one place playing a game. a HOBBYIST plays games in waiting rooms, on trains and buses. if they want to improve their GAMING experience, they need to be comfortable.
d: you need good sound
Again, subjective. Plenty of people use onboard sound even in their desktops. However, heres some mud in your eye, you can get a small usb DAC with headphone amp and a decent set of IEMs or headphones... Problem solved.
not subjective at all. better sound = a better experience. do you go to a cinema and be content with a ghetto blaster sitting in the corner?? no, so again, when people come asking how to have a good gaming experience, i tell them that sound is important, because it is.
e: you need good mouse and keyboard
Considdering many people here use crappy keyboards with rubber dome switches on their desktop that's a moot point. Besides, laptops have USB ports and guess what can plug into a USB port? That's right a keyboard. Mice can also interface with USB incase you weren't aware.
its not a moot point because people looking for a gaming laptop dont want to have a crappy keyboard, uncomfortable mouse. they want a good experience. they dont want their hardware or peripherals holding them back from being able to compete fairly in any given game. this is the least they expect from something tagged "GAMING", but they do not get this with "gaming" laptops.
f: you want something powerful as the more fluid a game can be the more enjoyment you will get
Or just scale back shadows, AA, textures, etc until it runs smoothly. Some people realize that a laptop is not a desktop so running a game on medium doesn't bother them.
yet again, people come asking for a GAMING machine they want to play at a high fps, smoothly. else they would have asked for a good HOBBY machine.
d: your system needs to be able to disperse heat, something all laptops have a problem with. especially after 6 months of dust
Get a $10 chill pad.
even more money and not a viable solution.
and if you dont care about all of that...
Yeah, I really don't.
because you are a snidey little low life.
a:everything in your laptop has a lifespan of 2 years, after which your money is completely wasted. as you wont be able to upgrade sufficiently.
What a stupid statement, especially the 2 years part. I feel like I'm getting trolled hard.
are you telling me a 2 year old laptop will be able to play a brand new high spec pc game? they wont, atleast not well.
b: the case you pay for in a laptop gets thrown away
c: the keyboard gets thrown away
d: the touch pad gets thrown away
e: the motherboard gets thrown away
f: the power supply gets thrown away
g: the monitor gets thrown away
h: cpu thrown away
i: ram thrown away
j: hard drives, thrown away
k: cd/dvd drives thrown away
with a desktop, when things are a little out of date, you can keep almost all of these components and just buy a new motherboard, or cpu, or graphics card etc. making desktops better for the world and better for your pocket.
So you're telling me that old desktop parts don't go to the landfill? That they get used forever and ever? What do you think has happened to the millions of CRT monitors (that contain toxic materials), the millions of old first generation LCDs, The millions of 3:4 ratio monitos? What happens to those VooDoo 2 GPUs, the 56k modems, and AGP mother boards? What happens to the single core Pentium processors, the Pentium 2s, the AMD thunberbirds? There are landfills ****ing filled with PCB and copper from scrapped desktop parts. Scrappers in poor countries that receive our garbage electronics scrap it for the raw materials.
can someone help him?? can someone really miss the point by so far??sure everything goes in the skip IN THE END. but when a latop is out of date, the WHOLE PACKAGE must get thrown away. with a dekstop, you KEEP your mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, drives, ETC ETC ETC. i cant believe i just had to explain that again.
also consider
a: laptop is easy to steal
Don't be stupid with your laptop. Problem solved.
but you obviously are stupid, so we cant count on that.
b: a gaming laptop will be targeted especially to steal
Subjective. ANY laptop, especially an Apple laptop, is a prime target if you're an idiot and leave it unattended.
IRRELEVANT. you are trying to be pedantic but it just comes out as dumb. put a gaming laptop with bells and whistles next to a "normal" laptop and introduce a theif to the equation and see which one dissapears first. you are just arguing because you dont like me because ive offended you, probably because you spend all your money on a "gaming" laptop. it is transparent and boring.
c: you will look like anerdy rich kid
have i talked you out of it yet??

i answered your question in this thread http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/topic/29199265/why-you-dont-want-to-buy-a-gaming-laptop i dont care if you take my advice as you shouldnt need it with all those 20'000 posts.seer what are you doing. get out of here.
or at least answer me for the umtilliopnth time what game do you play professionally? step up. you claim to be a progamer but refuse to hand out a tag or a real name. i cant trust you im srry and your advice is always full of useless bits and half truths.
assuming this is your xfire i found in conjunction with others your not a pro gamer you play CoD4 less than most of us have played tf2 or CSS XD

mx518 has 1800dpi, and even though is cheap is one of the best mice ever. i also have been using one for 6 yearsI use 800 DPI and default settings and I destroy in fps. You don't need some 5000 DPI mouse with special drivers and uber pointer precision.
Buy a mouse that feels comfortable for you and has enough buttons - not overkill.
I have a been using my mx518 for 7 years, maybe more. Before that was the mx510 which is basically the same.
Logitech makes good products. I think there is only called the g500 which is similar to the mx518 but a bit bigger.

GT3_and_JP
no. there arent. please read this thread for reasons why http://uk.gamespot.com/forums/topic/29199265/why-you-dont-want-to-buy-a-gaming-laptopAre there laptop computers that are just as powerful for gaming as desktop computers?
Keep in mind that I'm only interested in factory builds, I'm not expert enough to build my own.
GAMESHARQ
they are definately getting cheaper.
i picked up a 128gb m4 from ebuyer for £80. 6 months ago it would cost £140.
i would say its worth it now.
