lol at the TC implying he is better than everyone on here because he has been a gamer longer than most of us. Only thing that proves is that you're oldpearlboy601Actually, it proves that he thinks everyone here is just a current gen player. I personally have had an original Playstation, PS2, PS2 slim, Xbox, Xbox 360, and PS3. I've done the PC gaming and I had a CD-I when those first came out and helped convert gaming from cartridge to disk format. I have personally earned the money for almost every game I've owned through chores and a job. I've bought 4 of my consoles myself and really don't appreciate being lumped in with the current trend of gamers who have no idea how hard it is to get through a game containing 6-7 disks and weeks worth of game play.
To the TC, what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Putting a ban on DLC? Making it free? Put a mandatory waiting period for release? The DLC that EA and Activision are putting out have no real impact on the gameplay itself. They are added content. In the case of Black Ops, it's a map pack that adds new areas to play in online. This has no effect on the campaign and doesn't change your ability to play with friends. Many developers release DLC to add to the game experience and they do so within your so called "enthusiasm window" because that is business. You put the product out when it's most likely to sell and it extends that window so that they have time to develope more DLC before interest dies out. They have to make money somehow or they won't be able to put out the same level of quality in their games. Used game sales cut out the developers from the profit. GameStop, Ebay, Amazon, Best Buy...it's a growing trend because they stores can keep all profits from the sales. New games generally have a $25 trade-in value and can be resold at around $50-55 within the first month or two. A majority of consumers, thanks to our floundering economy, are waiting until prices drop to save money and the developers see none of these sales. The DLC is a way for them to make a little more profit from the games.
