Shawty, it is true resolution alone does not change on different sized tv's, but it is a dis-service not mentioning that differences in resolution can only be seen by the human eye based on the size of the screen and how far you sit from it. A 22" 1080p screen can look equivalent to a 60" 1080p, but only if you sit about 2.5 feet from the 22" set and 7' from the 60" set.

And Ive never denied that.

I thought there was a problem with PS3 doing 1080i. I know if you tried to play a game on a 1080i only television the PS3 would downscale to 480p.

Thats true, or 576i here in the UK, but there isnt many native 1080i TV's about.

if your screen is big yes you will notice the differenceKaY_86

Not true, really has nothing to do with screen size. The difference would be the same on a 22"TV as it would on a 100" TV

[QUOTE="KaY_86"]i think there is a 32' samsung 1080p its model is ln32b650 or something like that it's for 600$..but really in 32' tv's the difference is not that big so if you want get a 720p samsung la32b450 it's so good my friend has one..but my advice is stick with samsungs ther are the best i have a 42' 1080p it's superamazng..ofcourse along with panasonics you can't go wrong with both of themKaY_86

A 22" 1080p TVwill look the same and is no different to a 100" 1080p TV (resolution terms). The size of the TV itself really has nothing to do with it. Its the viewing distance that matters.

i am talking about the DIFFERENCE between the two resolutions not the resolution itself..the difference is more clear with bigger screens but a 32' is not that big to notice the difference..again i am saying the difference which means that i know that they don't look the same!

I know you are, Im also telling you size of the TV is pretty much irelvant. The difference between 720p and 1080p at 22" is the same as it is at 100". The difference is not more clear with bigger screens as resolutions are fixed and do not change. You could have a 200" TV, it still wouldnt look any better to any other 1080p TV and the difference between 720p and 1080p at that size is just the same as at any other size.

Samsung T240HD, not sure of the price in America/Canada but its a great monitor for the PS3 with 2 HDMI inputs. Sound, not so good but I guess most people use external speakers anyway.

not really willing to settle for 720p :/ i got my dad paying for about $350 of it :D

joshua2424

With a 32" you'll hardly notice the difference at all between 1080p & 720p

really? that sucks because on my panasonic viera 46" i can really tell when i put MGS4 in... i will have to take that into consideration, thanks for the heads up.

No, he is wrong, but MGS4 is not 1080p anyway.

With that price range I would definitely recommend Samsung Model: LN32B360C5D. Superb picture quality for 720p and has great digital audio for a HDTV. Plus it's on sale at bestbuy for $429.

As mentioned in the other thread you posted at, this is wrong. The difference between 720p and 1080p is the same at 22" as it is at 100". Screen size alone does not make a difference as resolution is fixed.

I agree. Plus you wont notice that much difference between 1080p and 720p under 40".

Wrong. The difference between 720p and 1080p is the same at 22" as it is at 100". It depends on viewing distance, Screen size alone does not alter resolution (as it is fixed).

A larger screen does look nicer. I'm sorry, but it's the truth. The closer you sit, the more apparent it is that you are looking at an artificial surface. If you were to have a person view a 26 inch 1080p and 50 inch 1080p through a viewing box at each given sets respective viewing distance, the difference in what is being looked at is immediately discernable.

Also, just the other day I was at a friends house who has a higher end samsung 40in 720p plasma. He views from about 5 or 6 feet away. I typically watch on a panasonic 50in 1080p plasma from 10 feet away, give or take. There's a remarkable difference.

A larger screen does not look nicer (resolution wise) Its the same numbers, it can never look nicer.
