[QUOTE="KonKing"]I'm going to get a Samsung 1080p 24'' HDTV and I noticed the resolution is 1920x1200 while all the other TV's I looked at had a resolution of 1920x1080. Would the bigger resolution on the Samsung cause problems such as stretching out the image or FPS problems? Edit: I plan on using this for watching TV and playing games.Blade8Aus

1920x1200 is an excellent resolution because it can naturally output 1920x1080, 1600x1200 and 1920x1200 and no nothing shall be stretched don it :D

If the monitor does not have 1:1 pixel mapping, then yes the picture would be strecthed as you are outputting at the monitors native resolution of 1920 x 1200 which is 16:10, not 16:9. It just so happens the the monitor he is talking about has this and adds black bars at the top and bottom to stop the stretch.

The human eye can barely distinguish between 720p and 1080p, especially with TVs under 42" and sitting a certain distance away from the TV. It's just a number. Most of the people who complain that something isn't 1080p probably can't even tell the difference in the first place. And honestly, does that really take away from the enjoyment of a game? Frodo-Teabaggin

Wrong, totally wrong. The difference between 1080p and 720p is the same at 22" as it is at 100". There is no magic screen size number where they start to look better. Of course, the smaller the screen the closer you need to sit to it. The human eye can easily distinguish 1080p looks better than 720p on 22" screens, you just need to sit closer. The sooner this myth goes out the window the better.

Its not the Samsung T240HD is it? That has 1:1 pixel mapping, Im using it now.

Actually yeah that's the one. Here's the link

Yeah, its a 16:10 screen, so to watch/play 16:9 screen without stretching, it adds small black borders at top and bottom of screen, but its not really noticable. Its a great monitor/TV.

So would playing 360 in 1080p with 1920x1200 resolution cause any problems such as the black lines or stretching it out?KonKing

The Monitor/TV needs 1:1 pixel mapping, this will but small black borders on the top and bottom and it will not stretch the image, otherwise your image would get stretched as 1920 x 1200 is 16:10 and not 16:9.

Look on the back of the game box, it tells you what the game will output in.

orca54321

But does not tell you the native resolution of the game.

It's funny how enraged you are and just ignore most of what other peoples already said and just make one post after another on how kewl the 360 is since it does the same as the PS3 ...uRan_Ehr

I ignore it because its wrong. The Xbox can do 1080p simple as that. I dont have a 360, nor do I want one.

[QUOTE="shawty1984"]

[QUOTE="uRan_Ehr"] Yep same here. I think I read something about you need to have at least a 40" screen and you have to stand at least 3 meter right in front of it to see a difference between 720p and 1080p. uRan_Ehr

Wrong. Ive got a 24" 1080p monitor and its great. 1080p at 24" is the same as 1080p at 100", you just need to adjust your viewing distance. Resolition is fixed, it doesnt change due to screen size.

I guess by monitor you mean for the PC? If so I guess your distance to the screen is like 50 cm. And with this small distance it's quite clear that the game looks awesome. But you can't tell me that you would see a difference between 720p and 1080p on a 5" screen ...

My monitor is used mainly for the PS3 and and TV. You would see the difference if you can sit close enough to the screen.

[QUOTE="shawty1984"]

[QUOTE="uRan_Ehr"]Maybe because some games are only 720p? :? And the 360 doens't play games in 1080p native. It only upscales them.uRan_Ehr

Yes, the Xbox 360 does play games in native 1080p, not all, infact not many at all, but like the PS3, the Xbox 360 can play native 1080p.

You, Sir, are wrong! Nearly all games for the 360 are NOT 1080p. The 360 lies to you if she says those games are 1080p because it only upscales them. The PS3 is a righteous console and shows you the real resolution of the game.

Sorry, just seen your edit.

[QUOTE="uRan_Ehr"][QUOTE="Cody13_2012"]

my thoughts exactly. All my TV does is 720p, and I think it looks orgasmic

jeremiah06

Yep same here. I think I read something about you need to have at least a 40" screen and you have to stand at least 3 meter right in front of it to see a difference between 720p and 1080p.

Yeah my screen is 25'' and I can't tell the difference between 180p and 720p But even at a bigger screen I hear you still nee to have them side by side to tell the difference.

Either you have bad eye sight, bad TV, no 1080p source, or sat to far away.
