[QUOTE="Theokhoth"]But...How is this considered discriminatory? It's a legal issue when you're unable to identify someones face. Why is France being portrayed as the bad guys?Gee, I totally didn't see this coming. Who would have thought that senseless, discriminatory legislation would have encouraged terrorism????

i thought sarkozy said burqa was oppressive and they cant allow it. looks to me this "security threat" is just a lame excuse.
[QUOTE="poptart"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]And if the burqa is being used to oppress the women?

That part I agree with to an extent, if it is being used in that manner. Again however I think it's a mistake to believe all of a sudden the women will leap out and exclaim 'I'm FREE! Thank you France!!!'. I read an interesting article which I'll have to dig out from the perspective of those burqa wearing females and forcing them is not as liberating as we Westerners like to think it is. It's not quite as clear cut as it seems...
The thing is...they need time to adjust. Right now all they know is what they have been forced to wear. So it's unfair to expect a reversal so soon. I'd imagine after acclimatizing they'd prefer to not wear a burqa. It really is only a cultural issue. They no longer live in that culture....why do infidels think all women are forced to wear burqa?
