Hard drive... tee hee

I just got a 320 gb (about 300 gigs in reality)

And I find myself filling it up kinda fast, movies, tv shows, hd movie files, music, linux. Still have plenty of space but theres still lotsa stuff I wanna get. How much space do you guys try to save for ps3/psn data only?

I think im gonna save at least 30 gigs for strictly ps3 and psn stuff.

What kinda stuff do you guys do with your hard drive?

DangerHiVoltage

Same ere-320 Scorpio blue western digital and got the original 80gb hard drive in an enclosure so i can use it as external drive and back up all my game saves as well as storing some PSN vids on.

Well if it weren't for all us early adopters of the PS3-Phat,as now known, well they're wouldn't even be a PS3 slim

Is that possible?

If so, how would you do it?

gamermanps2

Most of your game saves you can back up to USB stick.just go to saved data icon with your name on and click on it and provided you've got your USB plugged in,click on copy and then click on the icon showing your USB.

In the PS3 menu, I see under the games icon "memory for PS/PS2 games. But the PS3 slim isn't backwards compatible with PS2 games is it?blazingneo32089

No it isn't backwards compatible, but you can still make internal PS2 memory cards,i think for when Sony start selling PS2 downloadable full games.

I put the same one in my 80GB and it runs a treat. Then i bought a 2-5 sata enclosure for the 80Gb hard drive i took outta my PS3 and formatted it and partioned it into roughly 2 halves-FAT 32 and NTFS using some freeware available on internet called Swissknife and now i can plug the hard drive into my pc and use the NTFs partition and plug into PS3 to do all my game saves using the FAT 32 partition.

I wouldnt mind being a little slimmer haha..

Well anyways, for those of you that have a slim how is it? Everything working good? Ive yet to hear of some serious problems, like over heating or hardware failures...but it has only been out for like 3 weeks huh.. haha.

Well I just know Im getting one for sure very very soon, and I trust that the ps3 will run totally fine.

How is your slim treating you?

FFVIIROCKS

A friend of mine is now on his 3rd 120Gb slim since launch-The first two broke with hard drive failure. He took 1st one back after only 3 weeks and 2nd one only lasted about 4-5 weeks and then died with same problem.

So far,so good with his 3rd console.

Just cos someone has a broken PS3 doesn't make them a fanboy or troll-A friend of mine is on his 3rd 120GB slim since September launch-1st two had their hard drives fail.

Can it be found in stores? if yes then which stores? Can anyone get me a link? I have already seen it on amazon for 10 dollars so if i cant find it in stores i will get it from there. One last q, do ps1 controllers work with it? My ps1 controller has l2/r2 buttons and its dualshock. if it doesnt work i can just get a ps2 controller for 10 bucks too.

I was playing Modern Warfare 2 and my PS3 justbeeped and turned off by its self. The Red power button just kept flashing so I turned it off and turned it back on and it goes green for about a half a second and then the light turns yellow and then back to red. For the last few weeks I have been suspecting my PS3 was over heating becauseit was being a lot louder then usual even though I keep it in a well-ventilated area. So now I guess its broken... is there any way to get my game saves off of the hard drive?

Mighty-Lu-Bu

Unless it is the hard drive that is broken? Then i would take it out before sending console to Sony for repair, then all your stuff will be still on there when console comes back.Or if you decide on buying a new console, then you could swap drives.
