[QUOTE="tuvideo87"]

trying to stop RROD. but the console its just faulty

Well im on my 2nd Falcon chipped 360-the 1st still running fine after 1 year -just traded up for an Elite.

But with my original launch 360 back in 2006 you could've fried kippers on casing-where it used to run so hot,needless to say it got rrod after only 10 months.

ur screwed :( u can get a new xbox but u would need to have the receipt of when u purchased it. i did when i first had my 360. u need the receipt to get it. iam2green

No-you can register your 360 on xbox.com-registration/repair and they will have time/date stored of date of purchase-you dont need to show your receipt at all.Then you can call MS and arrange a pick up for repair.

I purchased my 360 a little less then a year ago, and I have a RROD. The issue is, I purchased it in Boston, but now live in NY. Can it be returned, and switched at a different gamestop (I cant find the receipt) or do I have to switch it at the gamestop i purchased it from. I know I've had issues about putting money down to reserve games before at one store and not being able to use it at another, so I'm just wondering if its the same with this. Thanks.highwyre237

When my launch 360 got the rrod after 10 months,i took it back to the store i purchased it at(Woolworths-also now dead)and they told me they wanted nothing to do with it and my only option was to phone Microsoft and get them to pick it up and repair/replace it.

I think you will need to do the same.

Go to xbox.com-registrations/repair and register your 360 serial number,then you will have proof of purchase and can then phone MS

I have an Arcade and it's hooked up to xbox live on a constant basis. Can the thing play backwards compatible games? I checked online and read that an update is required, but i'm pretty sure i would have it already. I just want to know if i can play origibal xbox games without a hard drive even though i still have the memory unit. Has anybody tried?

Hard drive required to save the BC update list.

Well i think they do extend the life of games,and if it's a favourite game of yours,then that's all very welcome,but i do think they tend to be overpriced at average 800 points.

Also, they will only work with your Live account... so they can't be used on another person gamertag... Why are you worried about loosing them?

Squeets

Cos when i bought my Elite recently,i tried just swapping the 120 GB hard drive i already hadstraight over from my pro,but found games wouldn't work cos i got message-these games have been installed on different console,so eventually i got right fed up and formatted the HD and lost all my Gears,Gears2,Halo 3 etc gameplay.

I recently brushed the dust off my old xbox, was wondering if I could use the same xbox live account on it as the one I use on my 360?

shyco

Yep should work-i started my 360 account originally on my old Xbox and transferred it to my 360,so i should imagine it would still work on Xbox.
