You need a hard drive to connect to live; don't leave your xbox on for extended periods of time to avoid stress on the system and try and install all your games to the hard drive. The RROD is not as common as it once was because ms has released gpu's that take less power but it can still happen. You need either a wireless network adapter or you need to buy a ethernet cable to connect your router to your xbox. nate_c-12

No-You can still connect up to LIVe without a hard drive-My Arcade has 256mb onboard memory and connects up to Live no probs-and did various updates ysday.

The only thing is obviously is that you cant download much stuff like demos and videos until you add a hard drive cos there aint enough space on 256mb.

Hey everyone, so I got an Xbox 360 Arcade today and I've been wondering, is there a chance I could get the RROD, or did Microsoft fix that? if they didn't then how can I avoid getting it?

Oh and, how do I connect to the Internet? Wi-fi? or do I use some kind of cord... thing...?

Well these are the questions lol, is there anything else I need to know about the 360? Sorry for being a noob. :P

Easiest way to connect+cheapest is with an ethernet cable.

RROD is most likely in older 360s,but still possible with even the newest.

Look at underside of your power brick-if it says output 150 watts then you've got yourself a newer and better Jasper chipset Arcade which is cooler and quieter running and so less likely to RROD.

worth the money IMO. but the glossy finish is a dust magnet

giantqtipz

Yea-I was gonna go for the new 4GB Slim now out-Cos that's in Matt black rather than the shiny-cos i remember my old 60GB PS3 in piano black was a nightmare for dust and scratches. But anyhows, opted to buy old stylee Arcade, which i got brand new at less than half price of the new 4GB slim version.

oscar_mateo

Thats a good one.

Well i sold my Elite back at start of 2010 and all my xbox and 360 games, but so regretted doing so.I've now re-bought Halo1,2+3,Gears 1+2.Halo ODST-which i never had before, plus a brand new Arcade 360-Old Stylee plus a new 120GB hard drive-Just gotta get me XBox Live Gold subscription now-And let the games begin!!!!

So take my advice and hold onto your 360

Or does it simply scrathes it or don't do anything - The reason I ask is because this snew Xbox360 slim, I seen a video of it damaging the game if you move the console wile the game disc is in. Does this happen with all Xbox360?

ZiggyStardust16

Yea-They've always said from day 1 of the original 360s that you should remove your discs before moving the console cos of the possibility of the disc getting scratched badly

Im planning on getting an original xbox 360 this weekend. Im just going to play an hour a night in my room. But people have been saying it's a really loud machine. My parents sleep in the room across from my room and is it THAT loud to wake them up?

martinX3X

My original 203 watt launch model used to sound like a bag of spanners running, but my last 360-2009 Elite 175 watt Falcon chip, was much quieter and even more so once the option to install your games to and play from hard drive.

[QUOTE="evilmaster2424"][QUOTE="Demonjoe93"]

I heard Playstation 1discs won't work on a Playstation 3, but you can download them on the Playstation Store.

Demonjoe93

no ps2 discs dont work. ps1 still works

Really? That's wierd. Especially since you can download Playstation 1 games and not Playstation 2 games.

Thats only cos Sony are trying to make money on old PS1 titles. You see-Very soon there will be a whole catologue of PS2 titles available, obviously with the B.C. coded into each individual game you buy-That's probrably why you can still make PS2 internal memory cards even on the Slim PS3s

I'm 22 years old and i love gaming, Its such a huge part of my life and i'm not sure what i'd do without it. I now have a full time job of 48 hours a week and also i have a girlfriend who also takes up her fair share of my time.......

my point in all this is how little time i have to game anymore....I mean as life goes on you'll settle down with kids, work, wife....all this stuff adds up, So what happens to my life syle/hobbie....was my mum right will i grow out of gaming?

There are even games that i would love to play but really dont have the time to go on, Also i'm stating to get bord of games faster than i used too.

I'm abit lucky in one way my missis love's to game, so i'm ok when she come's round because i go online with her.....but still when i'm 30-40 will i still game? ....I hope so.

Well I'm 47-Been married 3 times and got 5 kids-4 of which love gaming, and I still love my games, both on xbox and PS3.The only thing though,is that,as you get more commitments, then you obviously get less time for gaming.Be sure and marry someone who doesn't mind you gaming though, otherwise you'll be into a cloth cap and slippers before you know it!
