Seeing as how the starter Pokemon are usually one of my favorite Pokemon each gen, I thought I would make a blog about them. I will score (from 1 to 100) them individually, then look at them based on type, then I willscore their trio. At the end I will talk about the main animal they are based off of. I will also talk about something I noticed about the starter Pokemon.

Grass Types: The grass types have usually had it the roughest IMO, as they are usually my least favorite. Only once has the grass starter been my favorite in a gen and that is gen 5. In gen 1, 2, and 4 the grass starter was my least favorite. It doesn't mean that I think the grass starters are bad, just not as good as the water and fire starter. The good thing is that there lowest score is only 70.

If you add upmyscores of the grass Pokemon: 398/500 (average of 79.6)

Water Types: The water types are at the upper end of the middle, overall. In gen 3 and 4 they were my top favorite, in gen 1 and 2 my middle favorite, and in gen 5 my least favorite. Something else the water types suffer from is having my least favorite starter Pokemon so far which is a 66.

If you add upmyscores of thewater Pokemon: 397/500 (average of 79.4)

Fire Types: The fire types are also in the upper middle, but a bit higher. In gen 1 and 2 they were my favorite, in gen 4 and 5 my middle favorite, and in gen 3 my least favorite. The thing that gives them a boost is that their lowest score was a 75 and they had two Pokemon that scored in the 90.

I don't know if you have noticed this (this is sort of a matter of opinion) but each Gen has had one goofy looking starter, one cool looking starter, and one cute looking starter.

Goofy: Squirtle, Chikorita, Mudkip, Turtwig, Pokabu

Cute: Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchic, Piplup, Mijumaru

Since we all know Pikmin 3 is coming out, I thought I would think of my own Pikmin ideas aboutpossible Pikmin, characters, story, etc.

So, let's start.

Pikmin Ideas

Orange Pikmin:

special feature - tail

resistance - none

attack - above average

mobility - average

throw - average

carrying capacity - 1

ability - Orange Pikmin have the ability to pick up small bombs and projectiles and use them to defeat enemies with and destroy certain walls.

Green Pikmin:

special feature - a bit fatter then other Pikmin, leaf on head is a darker shade of green

resistance - any ground/mud based attack

attack - good

mobility - a little bit lower then average

throw - average

carrying capacity - 5

ability - Green Pikmin are five times stronger then other Pikmin (except Purple) and can resist mud/ground based attacks.

Pink Pikmin:

special feature - smaller then other Pikmin, eyelashes

resistance - won't die if left overnight

attack - below average

mobility - fast

throw - slightly above average

carrying capacity - 1

ability - Pink Pikmin can sing to put enemies to sleep for a little bit of time and they won't die if left overnight.

Story Idea:

Olimar has been away from the Pikmin planet for some time now, and he misses the Pikmin. So, Olimar decides to go back to the Pikmin planet to visit them. When he gets to the Pikmin planet he sees more bugs (enemies) then ever before and the planet looks more like a wasteland then it did before. Olimar goes around looking for the Pikmin when he finds the Red Pikmin (the Red Pikmin are always the first Pikmin you find) and discovers that there are way less Red Pikmin then before. He comes to the conclusion that the Pikmin are going extinct, because of the increase in bugs and poor enviornment. So he sets out on an adventure to save the Pikmin race by trying to restore the Pikmin planet land to where it is liveable and by trying to get rid of the bugs that are killing off the Pikmin.

Character Idea:

Olimar's son - After hearing about all of his fathers adventures on the Pikmin planet; Olimar's son decides he wants to go to the Pikmin planet with his father. He would be Olimar's partner in this game.

I thought, for the heck of it, I would make a blog talking about the most important Pokemon to get right (IMO). By that I mean, the most important Pokemon to have look good. Now, it is important to make sure all of the Pokemon look good, but some are more important then others.

So, in the blog I will list the Pokemon and why they are so important to get right.

So, I will start:

1. Version Mascot Legendaries - The reason these Pokemon ranked the highest is because they are the Pokemon that are on the cover of the games! These are the Pokemon that everyone looks at before getting the game, and they usually give you an idea of what the other Pokemon will look like. If they look good then people will be more confident that the other Pokemon will look good, mess them up and people will lose faith in how the other Pokemon will look. Moreover, they are the Pokemon the game revolves around the most, so they should look the best.

2. Starters - The reason these guys score second is because they are the first pokemon you get in your journey, and will probably be one of the Pokemon you use the most. Given those reasons, you don't want these Pokemon to look bad. Who wants to have the Pokemon they will use the most look crappy? I know i sure don't. Speaking personally, the starter Pokemon are the ones i use the most so I want them to look good. Also, the starter Pokemon are the second Pokemon that give you an idea of what the other Pokemon may look like, so they need to look good. This goes from their first evolution to final evolution.

3. Version Exclusives - I put version exclusive Pokemon as the third pick because they are usually the Pokemon that help you pick which version you end up buying. Some people are not completely sold on which version they are going to get by the mascots, so the version exclusives help them pick. this is the main reason they ranked third.

4. Legendary Trios - These ones ranked fourth because of their importance. The legendary trios usually help push the story along in the Pokemon games, and they are one of the first legendary Pokemon you encounter. For those two reasons I feel they should look cool. Who wants ugly Pokemon to help lead the overall story of the game? No one.

5. All Other Pokemon - All other Pokemon that don't apply to the categories above go here. All pokemon are important to get right, but the ones above are more important. So this is were all other Pokemon go.
