@johnnyauau Everybody needs a scapegoat. It's easy for people to look at video games and say "well look here, clearly this is the problem!" The NRA did it when people started pointing fingers at them - "No, we, the National Rifle Association, aren't the problem, VIDEO GAMES are the problem!" Ultimately, the problem is the parents.

@Valtero While I agree with everything you're saying, the state of the American economy doesn't help things. We live in an economy where the average American who barely graduated from high school or even flunked out and later got their G.E.D. can get $7.00+ at a minimum wage job. BUT, the minimum wage has to be high because everything is so freaking expensive these days. While American made good are typically high quality, it better darn well be because specialty jobs require a highly skilled (meaning, higher paying) workforce to produce these goods, which leads to very high prices for these products. An American made HDMI cable will sell for $30 for a 3' long cable. You can get it from China for less than a dollar.

Honestly, while it does suck to have jobs going overseas, it's our own damn fault that they're going that way. Everybody is used to making $35,000+ a year from their jobs while people in Asian countries probably don't make that in 5-10 years of labor or longer. Think about it.... bread - it's the same thing, using the same wheat, same processing and etc that was used 70 years ago, yet why was it a few pennies for a loaf back then and now it's $2? Food for thought.

Anime. Awesome. Because that's clearly the only way to do any video game to animated movie/cartoon adaptation.

/end sarcasm

I wish these companies would stop doing every freaking video game cartoon in anime. Anime is such a niche market.

At least Nintendo has learned a lesson from the mistake. The PSVita systems are still around $250, the same price as 360 and PS3 consoles <_<

They got feedback for bigger breasts from the people in the same culture that enjoy tentacled creatures in their "cartoons" and they were surprised?

@TairuSzoola They did. If I remember right, M$ had initially sued Motorola for some patent infringements (I think it was regarding cell phone technology) and in return, Motorola counter-sued M$ with this lawsuit.

As vague as patents are these days, I'm pretty sure Motorola can sue Sony and Nintendo as well. Both use wi-fi and both use a means to connect wireless controllers to their systems. Frankly, this is all garbage and the state in which patents are issued and how they are issued is freaking stupid. Something that is commonplace in the market shouldn't be allowed to be patented, because then you stifle technological innovation. Corporate world be damned!

I don't see how the blame can be put on Rhode Island in this case. 38 Studios was given a loan to entice them to move to RI. OK........ but if 38 Studios isn't making money, how are they going to pay back the load in the first place? Doesn't matter if they're in RI or California; if they aren't making money, they aren't making money. Location has nothing to do with it. Does Epic Games sell millions of copies of Gears of War by being located in North Carolina? No. Does Bungie sell millions of copies of Halo by being located in Washington? No. Location is irrelevant. They're doing something wrong - not making money.

Logic. I haz it.

Cage also sounded off on the present market. He said the industry is oversupplied with first-person shooters and role-playing games, and is too tilted towards violence.

"The industry is too far balanced towards kids and teenagers. It's too focused on violence," he said. "There should be games for all ages, all tastes. Whatever is possible with interactive entertainment should be explored, and I don't think we're seeing that right now."

If he feels that way, why did he help create a game about a freaking serial killer???

And he's totally off base about not needing next gen. When Minecraft 360 can't support the same large sized worlds of its PC counterpart, that is a definite sign that the systems are in need of an update.

In a little over a year, they've released 6 fighting games, all of them involving Street Fighter. I used to chastise Activision for releasing multiple copies of Guitar Hero during one year, but I think Capcom might be the new punching bag for "over-saturating the market". We're in a freaking recession... do they really expect people to buy multiple copies of very similar games?
