Great news for sure! I love Gabriel Knight 1 and 2 (couldn't bear the third one, though, that 3D was awful even at the time. Heck, back them, most 3Ds were awful. - and I'm not talking about the graphics alone, they were bad, sure, I could take them, the gameplay and controls, on the other hand... ugh!).
I hope she finds success in her return to real games, we need more high quality point'n'click adventures and would love to see a remake of the Beast Within (without FMV) and maybe even a Gabriel Knight 4.
@jd7904 Now you made me open my MP3 player and play "Testify" by "Rage Against The Machine". :)
"Who controls the past now, controls the future Who controls the present now, controls the past Who controls the past now, controls the future Who controls the present now?"
@sammoth Sorry, misread you. The "option" is even better, yes, it is my option. You also have options with Android phones, and be sure I do use them, with rooted and specific custom roms, the most opt outs I can get away with, no data plan and carefully considering each app I install.
Microsoft wants to not only deprive us all of options, but they want us to think that what they're doing is ok. As a costumer who knows better, I feel the urge of spreading that to other people, to let them know about it.
Ultimately, it isn't a matter of just "gathering data", I said that twice before already. It is about coming clean and knowing that if you want me to charge for a premium service, you can be sure I will want the premium service.
@epicgameresearc It's been clear since the beginning that "games" were never the main concern of Microsoft with the Xbox One. I have no doubt it will have some great games, but they were never planned to be the main attraction.
@sammothDude, that's not an opinion, that's a business model. The entire Google (and lot's of other companies) are based around it: let the users use your services for no money, but collect the data as payment.
And what you said that "this site isn't free" is *exactly* what I said: there is no such a thing as a free meal, someone will pay for it. That's exactly why we have "free services" all around the net. Knowing that, I may decide if the service provided is worthy of my data.
The problem is, companies who already asks us for money ALSO want to use our data, and I say no! That's unacceptable. Now, *this* is my opinion, and is an opinion based on knowledge of business models and the importance of our dwindling rights. It's not just a nonsense claim. If Microsoft wants to use my data like Google, they'll have to give me advantages like Google does (just an example, don't be too centered on it specifically).
And I'm glad you brought the "premium account" point into the discussion: lots of Android apps are "free" but collect my data and use an ad-based revenue model. Lots of those "free" apps also offer you an option to pay to get rid of the ads and (some of) the tracking. [Now insert here the last paragraph of my previous reply].
@sammoth Using "Disconnect" AND "AdBlock Plus". ;)
Also, this website is free: if I'm using a free product, I have to pay with something, in that case, my metadata. That's not great, but it's acceptable, since "there are not such a thing as a free meal".
Xbox One, however, will ask me to pay for the device, for the games and for the online services. The least I expect is the privilege of being kept in an add free environment for my money.
Yeah, fully in control. We'll have two options: to agree with the terms they'll shove on us or being left with some serious limited usability.
You have to agree to "this" to play game, agree to "that" to be able to go online, agree to "that over there" to use voice recognition... Riiight Microsoft. We believe you. ¬¬
@de-astroturfer Nah, this time I just say "**** off". :) There's no point in arguing with oversensitive and lazy little whiners who lack text comprehension. Yep, and this time I meant it, and also, yes, this time you deserve it. Please, have a mediocre life.
