yes, it nly happens to the 20 and to the 60gb models, what happens it's that when you turn your ps3 the green light appears, a yellow light flashes, the console bips three times and the red light starts to flash. What heppened to me was that i was playing MGO and suddenly my ps3 turn off and the red light started flashing. Since then every time i turn it on that happens

it's going to take a long long time. but when it's finished you will be capable of using it for backing up your ps3, so that doesn't heppen to you what happened to me.

Ok here is my history i had a 60 gb ps3 it had the yellow light of death, i bought a 40 gb ps3.i had never backed up my 60gb hdd And know i can't recover my data. If i put it in my ps3 it says it has to be formatted, the computer doesn't assign a letter to it, and to assign a letter i have to format it. I bought a sata to usb adapter and i plugged it on my 40gb ps3 but my ps3 does not recognize it. I don't have any more ideas, Can you help me please??

It's pretty easy. You have to go to (i only know the names in spanish) panel de control (maybe in English it's something like cntrol panel??) herramientas administrativas (administration tools???) administracion de equipos (administration of something???) administracion de dicos (disk administration???). press with the right button of your mouse on the disk, i think it's disk one, and put convertir en disco dinamico (convert on dinamic disk????) it will say it has to be formated, and that's it

hope it helps but i live in uruguay and my windows it's in spanish, sorry

my computer sees my 6ogb hdd but it says that i hve to format it to asign a letter (so that i can copy info), and if my put my 60gb hdd on my 40gb version it says i have to format it. i was thinking that maybe i can using a sata to usb adaptor conect my 60gb hdd to my 40gb ps3 and press the restore option, think that may work????

I think you need to back up the info first on a computer, or if you have enough space,. transfer stuff from the 60 to the 40, then insert the 60 and format it, then copying back to the 60? If that makes sensePOJO_MOFO

i don't know how to back it up, i don't want the 60gb hdd. i just want my saves

The yellow light means that the HDD is not connected properly:? You probably could have fixed it without buying a new one.StrmRidr

that's not true, i disconected it and re conected it. acording to my technititian (apologise my for my english i live in uruguay) it was a problem with the "integrado" thet's how you said that in spanish i don't know how to say it in english
